New Panthers

Alright, since it seems a little slow around here this morning I'll start this a bit early....I'm waiting for UPS to arrive with a pair of Ambanja-type panthers and I'm so excited to be getting back into them again! For those who don't know, my favorite has always been this locale and I had my own line of them in the mid to late 90's. When the last of that line died in 2006 I thought I was done with chameleons but somehow got sucked right back in when I found the Ch. jacksonii jacksonii last year  So I've got a little cb female from one of the most beautiful sires I've ever seen as well as a WC male who should be here in 2 hours or less. Come onnnnnnnnnn UPS!

There is no feeling quite like having to wait for a new cham to come in the mail is there? Will there be a breeding project in the future? I'm sure they will love there new home. Good luck with them.

Sweet deal Kent!
Glad to see you old school chameleon keepers(no disrespect intended) staying in the hobby.
It's always nice to hear about your experiences.
Who are you getting them from?
Did Mike talk you into some at the show?:D
I know he had some CB at the Daytona show.

Hurry up UPS!

Oh yea, don't forget pictures.

Yeah, Mike indeed. The girl is from Brantley, so still a ways off to breed. I'll probably be looking for a couple WC gals once the 2009 exports start coming in. Old school....yeah, Mike called me that once too

Got the camera batteries charging....

Ah, the most sleepless nights, and the longest mornings; the night before a cham delivery.

I've never experienced such excitement since christmas as a little kid.

Kent, I have one of brantley's sons. I have had him about 6 weeks now. Can't wait to see his colors come in. Hope he has his father beautiful purple bars!!!! Be sure to post pics of her when she gets there!

This is Mateo - Son of Brantley

How cool is that? Can't wait to see his colors come in also! Brantley is a AAA-Grade panther, in my book.

Still waiting for UPS....

Yeaaaah, I saw that thread yesterday. He looks good, but I really think he looks better in person. He's also a AAA-grade panther, LOL. Eggs are fun, I've got 4 clutches of panthers incubating now, my first in a good few years....

Well, the Brantley kid was the last one from the clutch and after thinking it was female all along turns out to be male when about to be packed up. I only got the WC male. Mike told me the pic he sent me of this guy several days ago wasn't very good and what an understatement that turned out to be. I really dig his colors and his red lines through the blue bars. I'm working on pics....

Edit: Seriously, I couldn't be happier with this guy. Ambato anyone?

Haha. Yeah, the sprinkler was even going in the photo. Unfortunately two jobs, fifteen chams, and being a full-time student put watering the lawn down pretty low on the list of priorities.

To be honest he looks like a typical Ambanja to me that is just hanging out in the tree relaxed and not in display. I think when he fires up at a mirror or something you'll see the more classic Ambanja coloration shine through. He looks like he has a lot of potential. I know a lot of breeders have animals that are always showing insane coloration even at rest but most panthers in the wild show a much more relaxed color when they aren't displaying and of course, when they do display, they are capable of just as nice patterns.

I know what you're saying but I usually think of wild Ambanjas as having a darker background, as well as more of a cobalt blue to the barring. Also, Mike said this guy fires up white.
