After lurking around this forum for a good while, i went ahead and got myself a baby panther chameleon from the Amazing Blue Reptiles booth at the Reptile Super Show in pomona on Jan 4th.

I had already built him a custom screen cage from dimensions mentioned on this forum. (24x24x48) Picture attached

Temp: 90-95 basking area, 70-85 ambient gradient (3 thermometers)
Humidity: Mist along with homemade dripper three times daily. 50-70%
Lighting: Reptiglow 5.0, 75w basking light-cant remember brand
Diet: small crickets dusted in repcal calcium without d3. (i have multivitamins and calcium w/ d3 to give him twice a month, but havnt done so yet as ive had him for 3 days)
plants: one live ficus, one live b. ficus, rest are fake.
Paper towel substrate.

i think hes male:confused: could use some help!! he shows blues and reds so im not thinking its a female, but apparently its too young to tell? The lady said it was male however. ill post a pic of the tail end tomorrow.

He was very friendly right off the bat. Kind of the reason i got him. he climbed right up my hand and perched on my head :)

He seems to like his new home, roaming around and resting in just about every corner throughout the day.

I have seen him drink 3 times a day, with absolutely no issues.

he has flicked his tongue at 7 dusted crickets for two days in a row with absolutely no problem (this was relieving) i didnt feed him the first day.

no water bowl, no water fall, only little soil in the pots.i will cover with rocks soon.

Everything seems great! However, I CANT FIND HIS DAMN POOP!!!!!!

i looked everywhere. All his leaves, in the soil, everywhere. Im pretty darn sure he hasnt pooped.

ANY IDEAS?

I bought one at the pamona fairplex too, got him from the kammerflage chams only booth. He's eating/drinking too, i haven't personally seen him poop, but there was a small one in there today. nothing compared to what he has eaten today. maybe they don't eat much during the expo and that's why... not sure, we'll see what happens tomorrow

Give him time, mine took a few days after he was in his new enclosure. Now he's regular.

The way I look at it is, have you ever gone on vacation and you're just not right for a day or two? Stress, a new home, etc.....

Check every day and I have a feeling you will be delighted to see poop :D

I can't wait to see poop. Today my mom was scared Trippy would poop on her hand...I BEGGED for it!! Haha

He pooped!

he pooped on my hand! never thought id be happy to say it but i couldnt be more happy to get pooped on! haha
i attached a picture of the poop. Urates look very white. This is good right?!!!

I also tried to get pictures of his bottom where the tail is. can anyone guess the sex? Im thinking male more and more as i see his colors change. he has nice blues coming in around his white line and on his cheeks.

:p:p:p:p That would have definitely been funny.

Glad is finally calmed down enough to have a BM. Not that alarming for a new addition to take a while to settle it.

He does appear to be a lil boy, but I can't quite tell from the pics. You should be able to see a little bulge near his vent.

As young as he is you need to drop his basking temps by about 10 degrees. 90-95 is to hot. 80-85 is more in line.

See what a bit more activity and a little "good" stress can do? When I have a cham that seems to be holding on to his intestinal contents a little too long I find that an exciting roam around a room, put on a plant in a warm sunny window, someplace out of its normal quiet territory gets things moving.

But I know how hard it can be to wait. Once I got a new wc verrucosus who held it for 10 days upon arrival. I was frantic! He wasn't, and lived for years.
