I got my chameleon for valentines day its now april 7th 2010. He was about a month when i got him hes gotta be aoround 4 months now. I didnt know this chameleon was harder to care for then other lizards. Ive been doin really good with him and researching everything possible. I want him to live a happy healthy life. The pet store i got him from is notorious for selling sick animals and trying to sell u stuff u dont need (Critters in Taylor Michigan). I feel i rescued my lil buddy cause when i seen the other ones in the cage next to it they didnt look so good. So far he has been really healthy.

The past couple days have been kinda rough on the both of us. His right eye seems to suck in then pop out with this wierd bubble. He keeps it pinched closed some of the time. I have been doin an eye flush twice a day. His eye is not oozing or pussy. He shed about two weeks ago wich was a day long n looked really healthy. I was woundering if he got a piece of skin stuck in his eye. He keeps rubbing his eye on everything. Yesterday he wasnt flinchin when i came near him i dont think he could see . I had to soak a q-tip in eye wash n rub his eye (around the opening tho) he sat there n let me do it n usually i cant get near his face. I think he liked it a little to much. He didnt even change a hue or get his angry spots.

Ive tryed hydrating him more woundering if he wasnt gettin enough water. This girl that owns a chameleon has been helping me some she said the calcium on the crickets could even get in his eye. when i mist the cage i make sure to mist him good. I dont spray his face meanly or intentionally but i make sure i get him good... not soaked but wet. it seems to of been helping hes able to catch his food good again and moves along the cage really good.

The problem is his one eye jus keeps bubbling out n he piches it closed some of the time. It doesnt seem normal from the months me and him bonded but i cant seem to figure out how to exactly fix the problem.

Does any of this sound familiar to any of you? googly needs ur help. Im not sure if its normal if they just do this occasionaly with there eyes or if this is a symptom of a bigger problem. Googly is my buddy and i named him after his crazy eyes.

Matt was faster lol

I would recommend a vet visit asap. If he is sick and needs antibiotics, the longer you wait the worse it will get. Then we can work on husbandry issues if needed.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean about his eye. First, chams do roll and bulge their eyes in and out when they are trying to clean them. If he is moving the eye around under the lid (especially during or after he gets misted) then this might be his own attempts to clear some irritant out of his eye.

If you meant that some sort of bubble comes out of the opening of his eye then I can't really imagine. Pictures would help.

Could have something stuck in it that he's trying to work out. Could have a parasite. could be you have lighting that is hurting his eyes. Could be hydration. Could be lots of things.

Definatlely fill out the "how to ask for help" questionaire.
And a vet visit never hurts.
