hey whats up everyone... im new to forum. im mildly scatter brained when talking about things so bare with me. I just picked up "ernie" from a breeder around where I live. however i need a few suggestions :/.... This guy actually had the ability to let free roam alllll of his veiled chams all day out side. (sw fl) I have work twelve hours a day and have set up a nice little enclosure.... what im stressing about is going to be obvious... Lighting and supplements? He gave me one dome with a nice uvb and a separate heat bulb. now... I have the one uvb on right now in an area where he should be basking. its a single round/curled bulb not long or whatever. my house is usually 77-80 during the day. im planning on just going to get a full length uvb bulb tomorrow, that way i have heat for basking if he desires. I just want to make sure this little guy doesnt get mbd. I did notice (of course not until i got him home!) he has four very small bumps on rib cage. (slightly noticeable in first pic. )when inspecting him he was puffing and beautiful. Im assuming this has happened from just handling or something. he moves around great and is very timid. Still havent seen him drink, which has worried me. lil dripper on over night delivery right now. i mist twice a day.
The difference between natural fl sun and artificial im sure is crazy. im gut loading crickets, and have a calcium WITH D3 for dusting. I grabbed that only because i knew the change in absorption of uv would be a lot different. How often should I dust my crickets with this supplement or if at all?

ive already grown attached to this little creep and want the healthiest little monster i can have. I have had chameleons before years ago, just am concerned with "lifestyle" change of the animal. On weekends of course i plan on letting him outside all day when i am at home. :mad:Cant do during the week without watching, squirrel mafia and wild cats make love in my shed in courtyard.

Hello and welcome to the chameleon forums. This is a great place to learn about chameleons. First if you are not going to be outside with your guy every single moment then I would highly recommend building him a large sunning cage. He could wonder away or something could eat him in just a moments time. The little bumps on his side could be broken ribs from the past that have healed over. The main supplement you need is calcium without d3. I'm attaching my blog for you below and it has a section on supplements and a section on lighting along with everything else that you will need to keep him alive and healthy.
