Hi everyone. My name is Kenzie and I just rescued/adopted a 2 year old male Veiled Chameleon. He's almost a foot and a half long. His cage is too small from what I have been reading(It's 2 x 2 x 1' shallow). It was disgustingly dirty. I spent the better part of the day cleaning it and all the stuff that was in it. Fake vines, fake leaves and a small potted ficus. He came with a heat/uvb lamp. It's really hot so I put it away from where he can't climb right up to it. He is really feisty and tries to bite me when I put my hand in the cage to move things around(when I was setting a few last things up). The girl I got him from said she took him to the vet and they told her he is dehydrated and should be soaked once a day for 5-10 minutes in warm water. I tried that today(just got him last night). He really did not like it at all. Once he got back in his clean cage I sprayed the leaves around him and he didn't seem to like that either. I haven't seen him eat yet(there were dozens of crickets in the cage. I took all out and left 5 in there). All he does is watch me. Even from all the way across the room(10-12 feet away).
Will he calm down? I am ordering a completely new setup on Monday. I called several stores that specialize in Veiled Chameleons but no one answered. I left messages and emails. I called http://www.theveiledchameleon.com/

flchams seems to have the better complete setup packages with the Mist King. Can anyone give me advice? He seems a bit malnourished and dehydrated but I don't see any obvious signs of metabolic bone disease. His grip is strong and he moves around a lot. I want to do the best I can for him. I have photos of him on my facebook page. I hope to learn as much as I can to keep him healthy. Thanks!
