Hi my name is Cory and I am about to order some sambava panther chameleos I am a first time owner of these lizzards. I have some questions I am planning on building a living terrarium I have a 250 gallon tank I don't know what kind of plants I should put in there? Also the guys at the pet store tell me I can keep two panthers in this enclosure without any problems but everything else I have read tells me its a bad idea. I am also going to introduce some crocodile skinks after my chameleon is six months old. I am also going to have a pond in the middle of the tank and was wondering if I can put any aquatic frogs in there and not harm my lizzards. Thanks for any information you can help me with on this.

Welcome to the forums. That's an excellent link that Brad attached above.

Chameleons are loners and you need a separate enclosure for each animal. Only one chameleon and no other animal to each enclosure.

There would be many problems with this type of setup unfortunately! The shape of the tank itself may not work for a single arboreal lizard because it may not provide enough space for the larger live plants you'll need. Mixing species is generally a very bad idea especially if they are not from the same wild habitat or climatic conditions. Its doubtful the tank would provide the specific temp and humidity conditions any of the residents need all the time. Many frogs produce toxins in their skins and you wouldn't want any other herps to be exposed to them. Chams don't swim well so the pond will be a hazard and a fecal bacteria breeding ground if anything is living in it without very good filtration. The water from the regular misting your cham would need will just build up in the substrate and create a soggy mess. All these creatures would be much better off in their own enclosures that are designed just for them.

Wow, a shop said you can house two panther chams together? I would stay very far away from them! They are clueless!
