New enclosure setup

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forums here.
I recently put a new enclosure setup together for a soon to arrive Jackson Chameleon, and I wanted to get general thoughts or suggestions on how to improve it.

Here is an image of the setup currently.

The temp is around 90 during the day, and 75-80 at night.

I have a manual pump misting system installed and I also plan on manually spraying when needed.

I am also going to a nursery to pick up a couple of live plants to put in the enclosure as well.

So any thoughts or recommendations?

Hi Jason and welcome to the forums! I do not keep Jackson's but I can tell you right now your temps are too high!!! What are the three domes for? You should have a uvb, uva(basking) and no night light, if that is what the third one is for. Here is a general care sheet for you to follow.

Thanks for the reply. I actually meant to say that the temp is around 80 during the day, not 90.

The 3rd light is for night time. It's a red 60 watt bulb. Ill make sure to remove that one.

I do have uva and uvb lights in place. I also have a dripper (not shown) which I plan on putting in today after I get the plants.

I think the enclosure looks good! If you don't already have one, I recommend getting a misting system. Saves tons of effort.

I also noticed you fixed your lighting (or are planning to) so that's good.

Maybe add some more live plants too, just to spruce it up.

That's the next thing I am doing today. I am going to a nursery to pick up a couple of plants so that the Chameleon will be able to drink from as well as have more places to go.

The live plants will also act as water collection for the dripper and any excess water from the misting system I have in place.

I currently have a manual pump that I plan on using, and is currently installed.

Very nice what are the dimensions of the cage?

Sorry I didn't read all of your info the first time, otherwise I would have known about the mister and plants you were getting.

I think if it is big enough it will make a fine home for a chameleon

i also recommend building or buying a drainage system. Most people get a metal rack , put the cage on the metal rack, drill holes in the PVC bottom of the cage, and place a bucket under the cage on the metal rack. this keeps water off the floor of the cage and your house.

The dimensions of the enclosure are 30"W x 30"H x 19" Deep.

I believe the minimum requirements for a jackson's chameleon are 18x18x30, so you are just fine!

if it is an adult or a baby, he will grow fine into that cage. It's pretty big considering the length and height.
