New Chameleon!

Hi!

I recently purchased a chameleon from an acquaintance. I did thorough research beforehand so I know what I am doing. When I got him he would eat 5-7 large crickets a day, everyday. I feed him a hornworm once a week. The past two days he has not eaten any crickets, I am worried as to why he is not eating... he just lets the crickets sit in front of him and doesn’t care. Is he maybe bored of crickets..? He also won’t eat any vegetables he seems to be pretty picky, if it’s not moving he doesn’t want it.
Lastly, he has something wrong with his tail, he was like this when I got him. The person I got him from had a tank with three chameleons together (big no no, I know) so maybe it was from another chameleon, no idea!! Would love some advice! I just want to ensure I’m giving the best life for him as possible!

The lack in eating could mean many things... The tail looks like an old injury either from another cham as you said or it had a cuff from shed that tightened around that area. Your going to want to watch his tail when he goes through sheds to ensure it comes off properly and does not get another cuff.

• Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
• Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
• Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
• Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
• Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
• History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

• Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
• Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
• Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
• Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
• Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
• Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
• Location - Where are you geographically located?

Hi, he looks a little dehydrated. Does he drink in front of you?

He has a couple times! About five minutes ago I just saw him drinking the water coming from his dripper. He just stood there with his mouth open catching it, which he usually likes to do, I’ve noticed.

what makes you think he is dehydrated? his eyes look fine to me.
