Hi i have had many other lizards before mainly starters like leos, beardeds, cresties, and day geckos.

i have done intensive research on chameleons and i just bought a female jacksons chameleon i am planning to breed next breeding season and i would appreciate and help and/or advice.

thanks.

If you didn't get your jax from a known breeder she might be gravid already. Many wild-collected female chams are. I'd wait and watch her the first year before attempting any breeding. Even though jax are live bearers they are not all that easy to breed and the babies are very tricky to raise. I'd concentrate on stabilizing her, getting rid of any parasites (over time, not all at once while she's trying to acclimate), getting the optimum cage climate settled, nutritional balance tuned (montane species like jax are sensitive to our supplements so be careful), and see if you still want to breed a year from now. You'll also need to create an entire separate enclosure for your male...they won't tolerate sharing a cage. I'm not trying to discourage you, just giving you a head's up early.
