New chameleon owner (Pictures + Set up)

Yeah, I just want to thank you again for the information on the plant. He's doing great today, so the plant didn't do him any harm. I was able to fit a large pothos plant I had around the house into the cage this morning and Tony seems to love it. It's like a little jungle to him now with all the vines going across the cage. I can't even find him in the cage right now, haha. I'll snap some pictures to show the new setup soon.

I see you got a cage of Craigslist that has already had a cham in it. How did you wash/clean the cage? Chams can carry parasites and you don't want anything passed on to yours.

Thanks! They are addictive, I find myself going outside to check up on him and see how he's doing often. I love the little cham. I made sure to hose down the cage very well before putting him inside of it.

You may want to get a fecal done soon to check for parasites as a good hose down wont kill anything if the other cham had parasites. (Its always a good idea to get regular fecal checks anyway).

Yeah, I plan on getting a fecal done for him soon to check for any possible parasites. Here are some pictures of the new setup with the pothos plant inside the cage. What do you guys think?

I just checked out your new set up with the pothos plant..It looks sooo much better..your little guy is going to be soooo happy now. By the way what's his name????

Thanks he does really love it! His name is Tony. When I found out the other plant I had in the cage before was toxic I took it out immediately and little Tony got upset and turned a really dark brown/black color. I could tell he was stressed from not having any place to hide. He feels much better with the pothos plant in his cage now.

Tony is a really cute name for a cham..I'm glad he's happy in his new home..that's all that matters. If they're happy we're happy..LOL!

I hate to be such a wet blanket after what's already been said, but pothos has a certain toxicity as well, and with veileds it's dangerous because they eat plants. With a panther it typically doesn't matter but with a veiled you're risking him getting sick from eating a lot of it.

But I've seen people that still have them in there, so I don't know if other people think it's a concern.

I'll keep that in mind. Tony doesn't like to eat plants though this young, so I don't think it's much of a concern. I've heard that veiled chameleons sometimes tend to eat plants as they get older so if it becomes a problem later down the road i'll switch out the pothos plant for something else.
