New cham.

Evening all.
I've purchased a new panther cham today at a reptile expo.
He looks great but km.wondering if his hand isnt functioning properly. He can use it, but I notice he doesnt use it the same as the others.
I could be crazy? It's his front right hand. In the pics you can see when he flattens all his other hands, he doesnt with this one. I have yet to see him use it the same. He still grabs things, climbs ect. So not sure if I should be concerned?

Also just hoping he looks as healthy as I think? And he is a boy?

  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?

He looks like a she to me. Not totally sure on the hand. She could have been in with other chams and gotten bit or could have fallen and sprained her foot. Either way taking her to the vet to get checked is a safe move.

She looks healthy.

The breeder told me it was a boy. How can I confirm forsure this is a girl?
 
Did they tell you how old she was?
Guess it's possible she could even have a splinter if they used wood branches or have rubbed a raw spot that's sore. Have you tried checking the inside of the hand? I know you probably don't want to stress her out though

I'm not new to chameleons, I've had a few in the past. Just new to panther chameleons, I've had veilds. And ive never had a female. Always a male. And I wanted just another male. I dont know a female is for me. Not interested in the issues with egg laying. I have a dog too so I can't guarantee it would be stress free for egg laying.

He said it was roughly 4 to 5 months old. Also said it was a boy.

So then what's your plan?...
 
Definitely female, you can usually definitely tell by 3 months old. Don't know if it's possible for you to contact the breeder or not since she was purchased at an expo, but definitely do if you can because they gave you a female
 
I have emailed the breeder. Will go from there. I do feel bad, as I do love it. I just know I wanted a boy.
