Hey all, I just got my first chameleon on Friday. Woo hoo! He is a veiled from Backwater Reptiles, and he is definitely still getting acclimated. He will come out and bask a little when no one is in the room, but as soon as someone comes in he jets for cover. He's getting better, it'll just take time (it's only been a few days).
My main question is, how do you know when they have the "shakes?" I've done a ton of research, tons of reading on chameleons to make sure I do everything in my power to take care of this guy (sorry, my wife and I haven't decided on a name yet, suggestions?)
Anyway, when I watch him, especially if he knows I'm around, he kind of rocks back and forth as he moves. Kind of like a ruffling leaf. I have seen it in youtube videos, but I just wanted to make sure that what I am seeing is normal cautious movement for him, and not a sign that he is sick or deficient in some vitamin/mineral. Thanks for your help everyone!
