New Bluebeast Site

We made the new Bluebeast tortoise site live today to replace the expired BBR chameleon site. We kept the old links working to certain pages if there were links or references or photos out there on the internet, but you can no longer get to them through the "front door" for better or worse. Anyways, the new site is still getting changed around, pictures being added over the next few weeks, but the format is there and the shopping cart is functional. It's not quite as flashy as the old site, but these are no longer chameleons (hard to make a tortoise very flashy). Any feedback is appreciated!

PS. We'll be vending at the Pomona show, boothed right next door to Mike, so anyone in the So Cal area be sure to stop by! We'll make Chad buy the beer for all you party animals. Let's try to keep it out of my hotel room this time (for anyone that was in Daytona)....

Great site!

I should be helping Chad and Darci out at their booth during the show. That is unless they have kicked me out. :D I should definetly see you there.

Glad you like it... It's been such a work in progress, anyone that really knows me knows that it has been a major source of stress for me over the past few months... Having dozens and dozens of tortoises, attempting to sell them on a chameleon website. Anyways, it's getting close, and is at least running now. Like I said, it's easy to make a flashy website when your animals are bright yellow and red... Tortoises are a different story. Pretty drab in comparison, but I love them just as much (and more when you factor in the workload).

Also, a buddy of mine will be travelling with us from Vegas to the Pomona show from up in Utah, who breeds dart frogs and has some killer animals. He also makes up the really elaborate cages for them that look like a piece out of the rainforest. If anyone is looking for some real nice dart frogs, he'll be on the other side of my booth, opposite from Mike. His company is "Tropical Ecos."

As far as Chad and Darci kicking you out of their booth, once you get to know them, you know they're really mean people. Sure, they can put a smile on their face for an 8 hour show, but at night she's yelling and screaming throwing books at Chad. I guess once you get to know him, you'll understand why...

(just kidding about the Chad and Darci comments, in case it wasn't obvious)

Pfsh... And just as I was about to type a nice comment about how good your site looks.

As far as the books go its not too bad. Darci just reads those cheesy paper back chick books so when they hit it doesn’t hurt too bad, its more annoying than anything :D.

*two thumbs up*
I really like the site.
I think you did a great job with the construction and layout.
I dont know my @$$ from a hole in the ground when it comes to tortoises.
And almost chameleons now that I think about it.:D
So as a total noob...maybe you could do something similar to your old chameleon website with the species you have available.
I'm a huge fan of pictures, and if i remember right...don't you have a D50?
I dont do website design, but just a suggestion.
If you have enough imagination, then you should be able to spiff up the site.
It's one of those things that take time and some fine tunning.
Best of luck with the tortoise business, and I'm sure they have to be way easier then chameleons!

And by the way.
I need a super stud sambava, and guess who doesnt do chameleons anymore?
YOU! The guy that had the best in the biz.

Thanks... I do have a D50 and I freakin love it, but when your color options are brown, tan, beige and maybe a splash of yellow, it's tricky to be creative. The babies are easier because they typically look better than the adults, you just gotta get in their faces to get the shots. I have my old camera with a fisheye lens that is kinda fun to play with too for some distorted shots every now and then...

Sorry for the dissapointment about the Sambavas. Loki was my boy, and produced some great kids. There's some Loki grandkids floating around nowadays (I think Chris Carter has or had some), and from what I see, they all seem to be pretty good looking.

I'll get the site spiffed up, it just takes time... I added a bunch of pics tonight on there, handful in the gallery and the About Us page... It's been getting great traffic today, so hopefully I can get it wrapped up quick. I expect another 2-4 weeks until the photos are done and site is looking good...

Justin, did you get your Pomona flight yet?? Just cause you guys are in FL doesn't mean you have to make no effort to come check out the West coast. Use the Pomona show as your excuse.

Here's a few pics of some of my torts...

Tyler,

That D50 is a sweet camera, and I always see great photographs come out of them.(most here on the forum)
I'll quote what another member said here on the forum "bodies change, and lens will last you forever".
That couldn't be more true!
You don't need one of those fancy D300's like Mike.:D
I actually almost bought one until the salesman tried to screw me.
Now they just came out with the D90 that has the same sensor as the D300 for 500$ less!
Anywho, those wide angle lenses are awesome!
I really like that "down to tort-level" picture.
They always take some very unique photos from a different perspective.

Yea, I already have one of the Loki babies from Chris.
To be honest with you, I don't want a washed down blood.
I want pure offspring from that guy!
I'll just sit back and wait for a sweet adult to pop up somewhere.

I really want to get out to another big show, but I just don't have time.
All I do is work, work, work. I've taken one day of in a year. That was for my birthday to go to the Daytona show. It's hard to manage a multi million dollar store with two people. I guess I'm one of the few retail companies that is still going good.
I hope to see you again next year, but untill then...it will be unlikely.
Atleast I got to see Chris Anderson and Chris Carter at the Orlando Repticon show.

Haha tyler...very funny about the books. They are good for your information, AND I don't usually throw the books at chad...more like shoes or a blow dryer or something that can make a little more of a dent ;)

P.S. The website looks really different but looks good!
