I got my new panther Cham 2 weeks ago now, he is 3.5 months old. He is quite scared of me and if I come within a 4 feet of the cage he runs and hides. The only few time he hasn't Run I've opened the cage and he fires up and hisses at me. Will this behaviour change as he gets older?

I got my last panther At 4.5 months old and he is super friendly, he's never hissed at me and will happily come out onto my arm, this is why I'm so surprised at my new chams behaviour!

you got to give him time to get used to you. the best way i found is to get a ficus tree or something like that and tie a cord from a branch in the cage out to the tree. and just leave the cage open. it gives him the chance to come out on his own and get used to people around him.

hopefully he cools down soon :)

They all have different personalities. You have had him two weeks so you have given him some time to settle in but he might need alot longer to get used to you before you attempt to start handling. Have you tried to hand feed him yet? I got my one panther at the same age and it took quite awhile for him to get comfortable with being held but nowI can kiss him right on his nose!!

I've tried hand feeding but he hasn't shown any interest yet. I will try the plant idea but it may take a long time as he really doesn't come to the front of his cage much.

just keep working with him. If you give up and then want to handle him later, you will never be able to.
