i hear what ur saying and i app. the look out but every plant you just name is toxic to chams if eaten. and the ficus prod. sap that is toxic to them as well. i know the hibiscus isn't toxic and they sometimes eat the flowers but i've had them in the house and they always die on me. the amate is only toxic if eaten. all schefflera are toxic if eaten. if i notice anything i'll remove asap. but he's been chillin on it since saturday and i haven't noticed anything different. thanks for the look out

Pretty sure the toxicity level is actually different depending on which shefflera it is.
I would rather opt for less toxic, than more toxic, as opposed to lumping them all together in the same category.

It is the level of toxicity we are getting at. The composed "safe plant" lists will all tell you about the toxicity of plants like Ficus, and Arboricolas, but they list the toxicity as minor, and not really severe enough to worry about with chams... While in the notice for other plants it will list the toxicity as higher, and worth avoiding. I'm sure everything has some level of toxicity if you look close enough.

Well im just going off of what my friend told me and he is a botanist and coll. pro. he said the amate hybrid should be comp. to the arboricola and no body around me had arboricolas that why i called him before buying. i'll take my chances with it only being toxic if eaten then any toxic sap that will defin. get on him. but thats just me. thanks

The fake cherry blossoms are pretty, but I'd be worried about them getting possibly ingested

My good buddy is a botanist as well... He can name just about any plant we come across and tell you about it. I can't remember the exact term for his degree, but the guy is very well educated. I have asked him about plants safe for chams... and he won't give me a single recommendation... Why? He tells me because he doesn't know enough about chameleons. I hope your friend knows what he is talking about...

It's a common phrase in the health section... "Someone told me..." or... "The pet shop guy told me...". It's potentially a matter of your chams health, you can listen a Botanist... or you can listen to experienced chameleon keepers.

This one is a HUGE red flag...

Here's how I see it. A 15-30 dollar plant is not worth a vet visit, much less the life of your Cham.

Panthers don't typically EAT leaves, however, they do sometimes chew on one for a minute or two when catching prey or drinking. I've seen it happen quite a few times, as mine aren't particularly shy about eating or drinking in front of me.

I'd personally pull it. Why take the risk? You seam pretty determined to keep it in. The question arises.....Who’s best interest are you looking out for, yours or the chameleons? We all reply with the chameleons best interest in mind here on the forums, yet we can only do so much to influence you to take the necessary precautions to ensure the proper husbandry methods are practiced. Vet visits and such can get pretty expensive, and the loss of a cham can be devastating. In the end the choice is yours, maybe you have more dollars then sense?

i hear u guys and i app. the concern, i might just take it out anyway , i used the phrase should be because my buddy didn't make the hybrid so u can never be 100% sure of that plants make up and toxicity unless u bio. it. he said from the research he did for me on it the amate shouldn't be a problem ,
the only other reason i went with it is because none of the stores or nur. around me had any arboricola that were of equal size they were all real small
but i might just shop around some more to try and find one.

Lowes and Home Depot tend to carry great size Arboricolas, pothos, ficus and other great cage plants. Sometimes you have to go in and look on your own, The people who you get on the phone always seem less than helpfull.
