Chameleon Info:
My Chameleon - I have a (probably) male about 4-5 months old veiled chameleon. He is been with us for 2,5 months now.
Handling - About 4 times a week. (He likes to come out.)
Feeding - I feed him medium size crickets, about 16 pcs a day, in two portions+ waxworms 2 times a week. They eat oatmeal and apple, carrot, celery, whatever vegetable I have+ drink Flukers gel with calcium.
Supplements - Zoo Med Repti Calcium every day, everything he eats is dusted with it+ I use Zoo Med's Reptivite with D3 in every two weeks.
Watering – Fogger + I spray water about 3-4 times a day. He has a rodent dripper. I see him drinking.
Fecal Description - He has never been tested for parasites. He poops every day or two days; it is moist, has a white urine part and a dark brown solid part.
History : I overdosed him with D3 at the beginning, but I use supplements properly for 1.5 month now.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Screen cage, 16’'x16''x20''. Two sides and back are enclosed.(New enclosure is on the way)
Lighting - UVB: Exo Terra 10.0. Heat lamp is Exo Terra sun glo 75 Watts. Plus I sometimes use red infra lamp for extra heat.
Temperature - Exo Terra thermometer. At night 19 Celsius, during the day about 26-30. It is the 3/4 of the way up in the cage, in the middle.
Humidity - Exo Terra hygrometer. 40-80 %. Spray water+ fogger.
Plants - 1 live plant, Ficus. I have plastic plant too+ Exo terra climbing sticks/branches.
Placement - In our bedroom,it is not near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas. The top of the cage is 55'' from the floor.
Location - Whitehorse, YT, Canada
Current problem: He's still having a tongue issue. He couldn't stick out his tongue for a while, but he always has had appetite. Apparently he has RI, so I've been giving him Baytril for a while now.
He can stick his tongue out now, but only about an inch or two. Rarely can he extend it all a way.
In the past few days he pukes out 1-2 crickets a day. I don't know it is the size of the crickets or his tongue. To make sure I will buy smaller crickets tomorrow. Should I use calcium+D3 every two weeks as well? I thought multi with D3 is enough in every two weeks.
Now Posh Penny has a same issue with her little girl.
Has anybody idea what can cause that?
Thank you!
