Nelson update and a little rambling...

Ok I am addicted in such a bad way. Only had Nelson for two weeks this Saturday and I have already started getting ready for my next one for sure which has not even hatched yet for what I know. My next will be a Panther.

Then I am going to a show on the 14th of April and who knows what I may find... lol I would love to get a pair of Jackson's though. So my addiction has only begun. I used to breed and raise parrots. I had a lot of parrots. The main difference is these guys eat bugs, I am getting used to them. Maybe one day I will get the nerve to touch one. LOL Don't get me wrong I know these guys and parrots are definitely different. But a lot of love and nurturing goes into each and every animal. The care for each species is different and even though I am new to chameleons I am not nieve. I love this challenge....

On a good note Nelson did eat some mealworms out of spoon for momma today. He is also shedding on his head and eyes and his coloring looks even more beautiful. (I take that as a good sign he is growing?) He seems to finally be getting the hang of his new Habba Mister which I regret getting now. Should of got a Mist King to help with this growing addiction.

I am also looking into how to breed my crickets. They love the Repashy gutload.(they sure do eat a lot for a bug) I need to make a wet gutload. I have been only giving them fruit which they love. But should look into expanding my colony since I am adding a few more chameleons.

Sorry for boring you I am jsut exciting.

Welcome to the Chameleon Forums. My advise to you would be to take is slow and enjoy Nelson for awhile and learn as much as you can about chameleons before jumping into more. Meal worms are not the best feeders for chams, try silkworms, hornworms, butter worms and supers. I would also recommend gut loading with more that just fruit. You need some dark greens in your gut load. I'm attaching my blog for new keeper below. Check it out so that you can keep Nelson healthy and happy for a long time.

Thank you

Thank you!!!
I actually gutload with repashy superload(?sp) and fruits and veggies. I would love to find a simple wetload, that I could make and freeze. Any suggestions?
