Hi everyone I am a new chameleon owner... So don't judge me too hard. I have a mesh cage for him and I'm trying everything I can to keep the humidity up. It sits around 35-40 and when I mist it gets to around 60. I love the little guy and I don't want to have him die :(. I have a dripper and I bought moss that holds moisture! Any help on what I can do?

First, I'd suggest you read the husbandry articles located under the Resources tab. There are several ways to keep the humidity higher and there are many many forum threads that can answer your questions. It will help us help you if you describe your cham (species, age) and cage setup...size, materials, live plants, lighting, temperatures, location in the house, etc.

Get rid of the moss, instead put a plastic shower curtain covering three sides of the mesh enclosure. It should keep humidity in. Remember it should only spike to 80 percent then it should go back down to 50%-60%

First off, what species of chameleon do you have? Some are more forgiving of a less than humid environment. Others will die.

Live plants will help a lot because they breathe and release moisture into the air. Droplets of water will stay longer on a live plant's leaves so the humidity will be up for longer.

Get an automatic mister. I honestly think it is necessary equipment not only for hydration and humidity but for them to be able to clean their eyes.

I added two plants, a dripper, a humidifier most of the daylight, but the open sides wasn't holding humidity very well. So I covered two sides with plastic. That did the trick.

I've baught a humidifier with a hygrostat that i just let on all day and set to 55% humidity... It took away all my worries. It does the whole room since trying to keep humidity in the enclosure would be pointless since I would sacrafice ventilation...
Humidity is lower where temperature is higher so it also matters where you measure the humidity in the enclosure (dont measure near the basking spot).

Unless you have a very demanding species I'd not worry to much about it...
Spray 2 or 3x a day and extra when it's shedding skin.
