Need some help/advice with Trixxi please

ronnie,
be careful not to spray the substrate too much as all the water will go to the bottom of your laying bucket/bin,this is were she will be laying her eggs.
this could kill the eggs

They would not be viable anyway as she has never been mated....also i only lightly spray the soil/play sand......She looks really fat today, fatter than yesterday!

im sure shell be fine ronnie, youve come to the best place.
has she never been with a male at her previous owners?

No....she has never even seen another Cham before!:p.I have covered up the front of her viv and left a little bit so i can see in but i am mainly leaving her be...i have offered her food today and she still hasn't taken any but she has had a drink

Trixxi is looking VERY fat today,4th day without food and shes standing under the dripper.....still no interest in the sand...should i place her in it?I have dug a test hole and she watched me but didn't go near it yet...i have her viv covered with a little bit uncovered so that i can see in to see if shes O.K.....How long can all this go on for??i thought that by now she would be showing some interest in the laying bin

Must be a worry Ronnie, Ive never gone through that with a chameleon but with many species, females can be pretty odd pre-lay. She may dig test holes for days before she actually gets down to buisness.
Try not to disturb if you can help it, as long as she has easy access to the laying place she will most likely go herself when shes ready.
Try not to chew your nails to the quick mate :)
Best wishes

5th day of no food...shes sitting high up on her vines and showing no interest in the laying bin....she not covering as much room as she usually does but that's been going on for the last 4-5 days...another thing i noticed is that her vent is slightly pushed out (only a small bit) but enough to make me notice...is she likely to dispel an egg without going into the sand?been giving her space and only checking every few hours....also will it be best not to spray her as much?don't want to p!*"" her off!

my female normally doesnt eat for 6-7 days before she lays,i would keep spraying her as normal, just dont spray too much over her laying site.
she will lay when shes ready

Lily had spells (including being gravid) when she wouldn't eat for anything up to 10 days. Her last clutch she didn't eat for a week beforehand.

Don't know how much more i can take of this:eek...i am convinced that she is going to starve to death or become egg bound!:(been reading up on the threads about laying and the raising kitty blog....going out of my mind!kinda like an expectant....dad/mum!

Well.... still no eggs and no interest in the laying bin either! Saying that she took a wax worm today and there was a pee and poo for me to clean up:) the poo was small and dry looking:confused: Shes right under her basking light most of the day....gave her a good soaking with warm water a couple of times and she seemed to like it!so...nothing really new to report!

Well Trixxi took a locust this morning and a waxie this afternoon, did a poo and a pee....the pee was strange looking,i tried to get a pic but it was in an awkward position in her viv and i couldn't get it clear enough!it wasn't a solid shape and was a creamy consistency like it kinda went splat onto the sand with the poop in the middle...infact it didn't even resemble a pee but the fact that the poop was right in the middle made me think it was a pee......I read somewhere on the forum about another female veiled absorbing her eggs....could this have happened to Trixxi?Should i pick her up and feel her tummy (not to sure if i would be able to tell what i was looking for!)Why has she started to eat again?????

I dont think reabsorbtion of eggs is possible Ronnie. Possibly she's eaten because she's been to the loo. I wouldnt go picking her up no, you dont want to put her off if shes close. Since the eggs wont be fertile, It dosent really matter if she does drop them on the floor, just be glad she has done.
Id be more worried afterward thats she's dropped the lot, not retained any. Id leave that laying bin in for a good while afterward eitherway.
Her appetite should soar after she lays, this will be a good sign things are back on track.
Be sure not to overdo the feeding though, she will eat like no tomorrow if you let her.
Just keep the water up and try not to hover about too much.
You can offer soft foods as you have while ever she will eat, but as Lil discovered, as she gets closer to laying and the developing eggs take up more room inside her, she will not eat, possibly for a week or so.
I think she will make it obvious as her time approaches (assuming she is gravid) by pacing all over (restless behaviour), possibly drinking more and ofcourse visiting the laying box/floor for a good scratch about.
It should happen within a week or so of her first digging. Be patient. :)

Thanks jojackson for the reply.....Don't know how some people go though this (with more than one Cham!!) I wasn't even this bad when i was having my own one:rolleyes:
