Need Jackson Chameleon Help: Seems Stressed Out

Your Chameleon - Jackson Chamelen, Male , donnt know how old

Handling - I havent held him yet, just got him 2 days ago

Feeding - I am just feeding my chameleon crickets, dusting them with cal with no d3 everyday, with d3 2 times a month, multi cal 2 times a month, i am gut loading my crickets

Supplements - Rep cal for all of them

Watering - i have a hubba mister that sprays him every 3 hours for 30 sec., and i also spray him with a spay bottle when needed

Fecal Description - The dropping have been white, and he has not been tested for parasites

History - i have no history

Cage Type: i have him in a 2ft tall x 2ft wide x 1ft deep. I think its a zilla

Lighting - i am using a 25 watt flunckers bulb for the heat and a 18in 5.0 zilla uvb

Temperature - the basking spot is 85*f and in the high 70's around the top of the cage. The bottom is about low 70's. lowest it gets at night is 73*f

Humidity - always around 70%

Plants - Im using a ficus and i have alot of fake leaves around the tank too

Placement - the cage is in my room. I also have a bearded dragon in my room but he is about 7ft away from him. it isnt near any fans or air vents. people go in and out of my room but not very often. my dog nevers goes in my room. My tank is about 4.5ft off the ground

If you've only had him two days then he likely is still stressed out with being in a new place

Allow your buddy plenty of time to settle in. Chameleons are very shy and cautious especially when they are introduced to a new enclosure! As time goes by he will become more comfortable. Is the area you placed your cage low traffic to allow him privacy? There also needs to be foliage to allow your chameleon to hide when it pleases him! The easier it is for your chameleon to go unseen and to hide, the happier he will be!!!

Your temps are too hot.

Reduce that basking temp to no more than 81.

Alsom that supplement schedule yo uhave is for veileds and panthers.

Jacksons are easily over supplemented.

I dont know what supplement schedule to use, but for my montane cham, I do calcium once a week, and a d3 once a month, and a multi once a month.

If yu post a photo of him, we can try to see how old he is.

I would agree with the others - posting a pic of him near a ruler or something that we can get some idea of size will help us to approximate his age for you. This may also stress him, so any pic will be good. Like others have said, he will still need time to settle in. It can take them up to 2 weeks or so to get used to a new environment.

Temps - I keep Monty's basking spot at around 80 degrees although it does occasionally rise to 83 when it's a hot day outside. They also require a good drop in temps at night of at least 10 degrees. As far as dusting schedules go - you shouldn't be dusting every day with calcium. I got Monty at 7 weeks old andput him on the following schedule:

Plain calcium 1x per week, Reptivite (vitamins) WITHOUT D3 - 1x per week and Reptivite WITH D3 once every 6 weeks. Here's a couple of links to caresheets to help you further.

thank you guys, i will make sure i do the new schedule this week, but i have a question. Do i dust all of the crickets with cal, cal with d3, and multi vitamin?
