ok so i was about to feed my panther spyro and i looked at him in his cage and seen something weird hanging out of his rear i freaked and thought he got hurt or was pooping put blood but when i went to get close to see if he was ok what ever it was he made it go back in i checked his droppings and they look normal no red in it or anything and he eats and drinks fine can any one shed some light on this for me i have no clue what to do

Prolapse?

Perhaps it was a prolapsed rectum... I am sure some more experienced persons will chime in who have seen it, I myself have not experienced that but I have read about it here on the posts... you may want to do a search on it in the mean time...

Although it went back in you will want to keep an eye on it...

thanx i just got a hold of my breeder he said it might have been a hemipene so i just gooled it and it said that as long as it went back in he should be fine and i seen some one on this forum said it might be him entering his like sexual maturity you think that sounds right hes my first panther i have a veiled but its a girl so i have never delt with this befor

If it was his hemipene and its gone back in it should be okay. Just keep an eye on him and make sure that it doesn't get stuck out. Any "material" that sticks out the vent should be kept moist if it stays out longer than an hour or so....just in case you need to know that.

You do not need to head for the vet. Just watch him to see if it happens again. As long as it goes back it it should be ok. If it doesn't go back in head for a vet right then. Might be good to locate a vet now so if you ever need one you will already know one.

Howdy Robert,

Keep an eye on things. It may have just been an action unrelated to any health issue and may not be repeated. If he does it again and doesn't pull it back-in for many minutes then it may be time to get his "equipment inspected".

Although it is about a 35 minute drive for you (I drive 45min to get there ), your best bet is at:

Dr. Tom Greek
Greek and Associates Veterinary Hospital
23687 Via Del Rio
Yorba Linda, CA 92887
866-940-7028

More great choices:

Geoff Stein DVM
Dr. Shipp's Animal Hospital
351 N. Foothill Road
Beverly Hills, CA 90210
310-550-0101

Attila Molnar DVM
23815 Ventura Blvd.
Calabasas, CA 91302
818-591-2773
