Current Problem - Peice of poop hanging from the vent area of the chameleon, I can see the white part of the poop(the peice of poop is barely coming out only a tiny peice is hanging out). He pooped early this morning so I don't think he is impacted. I sprayed him lightly and his enclosure with warm water to maybe help him poop. I just noticed the poop hanging an hour ago.


Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled, male, 2 months old. I've had it for a week.
Handling - Never
Feeding - Roaches and crickets. 7 a day. I feed my feeders carrots, lettuce, strawberries, and cricket gutload.
Supplements - I use Miner-All, rept-cal with d3 and rep cal without d3Watering - Both drip and misting. I mist three times a day for five minutes. I've seen it drink before.
Fecal Description - The urate is white and the poop is brown.
History - None

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Screen, (16 x 15 x 20 inch)
Lighting - 5.5" Basking Light Fixture and Reptisun 10.0 UVB bulb. The lights are on from 5:30am to 5:30pm.
Temperature - Basking spot is 85f and the floor usually stays in the low
70's usually 75 f. At night it is usually 72f. I use a thermometer.
Humidity - Humidity is usually at 40%, when I mist it gets to 70%
Plants - I use pothos, ficus, and umbrella plant.
Placement - Cage is locaged on my night stand, no high traffic, not near any air vents.
Location -Live in las Vegas

Sorry for all my problems lately, I just want to make sure my guy is as healthy as he can be. Also i've heard of giving chameleons a shower, should I give him a warm shower to help him poop( I herd warm water can make them poop)

If it's still there tomorrow we need pictures.

I think a 10.0 UV bulb might be too much for a young cham. How high up off the cage do you have the UVB light?

Also the basking temp should be 80. I doubt that either of these would cause your current problem.

I would not recommend a shower for a two month old.

Just see if it's still there tomorrow and if it is post some good pictures.
 
Try to make him poop again... Shower will work well if you dont want to shower him then get a small bowl with warm water up to the bottom his belly let him walk in there that will be a for sure poop.... Like Jann said pictures are worth 1000000000000 words ;)

Thinking the same thing. He could have rubbed one (almost) out. Is it more of a clear-ish dried up thing? Sorta looks like a wrinkled piece of hardened wax?

If so, wet a soft cloth and gently whipe it. No need to, it should come out after he goes again (poops).

This happens quite often with matured males. :rolleyes:

I've heard stories of UVB 10.0 could cause serious eye problems for chameleons. I'd stick with 5.0.

Renzo is absolutely right on that, these animals are cold blooded. Luke warm is the goal. Warm to us is hot to them. Cool to us if freezing to them. ;)
 
Oh but mine is only 2 months.also thanks for telling me that :) I'll go get him a 5.0 uvb bulb sometime this week.

He's too young to have them. His chameleon is only two months old! :) I bet your chameleon is fine, he'll probably poop whatver it was out today. If he didn't/hasn't let us know.

Lol and he did! Came home from school to a healthy fresh poop :D thanks for everyones help!
