Need help with panther feeder cup..

I had alittle maybe 1inch deep cup in his cage and he was eatting the crickets just find but waited for them to crawl out the cup (only way he noticed them) If they stayed in the cup he never looked in it. But crickets that get out and make it down to the floor are attracting a ton of ants!!

So I got a different cup this weekend about 3-4 inches deep so they could not crawl out and he hasn't touched them.

for some reason the ants won't go for the crickets if they are in the cup but if they drop to the floor there's a billion ants!

The panther doesn't go to the bottom at all he stays up top to mid area.

Any ideas for a better cup for him?

Is that a regular milk jug? just cut like that?

I had something so what near that color and my cham kept sticking her tounge to it trying to get them through the plastic.

Cup should be opaque so they dont try to shoot through it
Your chameleons may prefer a cup that is a dark colour and non-reflective (certainly all of mine do). I use ceramic coffee mugs that are green ro brown (they hate eating out of white for reasons unknown).
Place cup directly under favoured perches, to ensure the cham SEES the crickets.

after reading this i might change my cups, right now i use opaque plastic cups, both my chams took to it very fast, first day i tried, it took my girl about 20 minutes to figure out that shooting the outside of the cup would do her no good, now they both run right to the top and shoot away

You could try boosting his appetite (starving him) for two or three days. Then fill the cup with a flurry of motion. A dozen crickets, or a dozen silkies, or a dozen roaches. Make sure it's where he can see it.

I tie my cup to the front of the screen, just below the door of a 36" with a fishing line. I furnish my cage heavy in the back of the cage so wherever he sits, he looks down towards cup.

Same here :( don't know what I'm going to do :(

Hey Tim. Sorry to hear you are having a little trouble. I noticed all the babies would see crix in the cup and then run down past the opening. Eventually they would all start back up and spot them again then go into the cup. I would put the cup right under the favorite perch. I use white dixie cups that are 4 inches tall. You cant see through them at all. Maybe try one of these since that is what he was used to.

I'll pick this up today and try it if the crickets are still in the new cup i put there this morning for him

i just use an empty superworms container from petco. i poke a few small holes in the bottom for drainage. works just fine.

I was thinking of that but I have no use for superworms my chams aren't big enough for them :(

How long before you can give your cham super worms?

size will be the issue my boy eats several a day, but he is getting quite big. My girl on the other hand is about half his size and has eaten a few but doesn't seem to take to them as much as the boy. He is about 5 months she is about 4.

Hmm mine is 9 months she should be able to eat them they just seem huge LOL

I know lots of people feed supers. I do OCCASIONALY but its seems to me they make my chams constipated. They wont go for a few days then bam, they lay the big one:eek: Any thing change with the cup feeding?

Well I came home today and the cup I had in there a dark blue plastic cup had all 15 crickets still in there. So I emptied one of the supplement containers and use that and he went right after it and ate all of them so I'm just going to use that. I think its cause he couldn't see them in the dark blue cup :(
