**NEED HELP ASAP**

Went to the vets today and she was starting to show symptoms of an R.I but vet thinks the antibiotics didn't nip it in the bud and it's just came back. Went over my humidity, feeding, lighting, UVB, how many times I mist etc etc, because of the way people were commenting last night I felt it was my fault and I was mistreating her... He said all brill and her issues are from her conditions BEFORE me. So no this wasn't my fault and I wasnt just in denial because I didn't want my "pride" affected. Her MBD is completely nipped in the bud and her bones are very strong. Her weight is "just perfect". Next time when somebody asks a question give the person useful information. Don't just accuse them of not knowing the basics and it being their fault, when all I am trying to do is bring back a very mistreated animal from deaths door. Not be accused of incorrect treatment or care of my baby that I've spent almost 900£ bringing back. (y)

I’m happy she saw vet and will be in her way to feeling better .

The respiratory issue could be something you deal with her life span . I’m not saying she will definitely but a possibility . I say this because I dealt with it for nearly 4 years . Did he put her in same meds ?

I'd say I probably will be dealing with this as she gets older, hopefully not though. Yes as it did shake the worst of it he just put me on it for a few more days we're gonna see how that goes then if it doesn't work we'll move onto something else, but it should do!

Emma when you have a second could you add you vet to our vet list if you have not . It’s helpful for other looking for exotic vets in your area . Thank you ❤️.

Yes and my humidity is perfect. Went over it with my vet. No I am not just holding back for my "pride"s sake. Please read my earlier forums so you can understand her situation rather of throwing accusations about.

I am happy to hear that you got her treatment... I hope you understand that the people that were helping you and commenting help many many people a week. This is not a situation where we remember the exact details of every situation. Just in the last week I have been over at least 25-30 help forms. I can tell you I do not remember every detail of every member.

I want to add that you were never accused of treating her improperly. I can understand the emotional response since you are attached to this cham. But YOU were never treated with disrespect. You had said she is changing colors to blend in with her environment. You were told that this is not how they function. And then you got mad that someone would say that you need to know your basics. You took it the wrong way. I was going to offer advice yesterday but honestly I don't want to be yelled at for asking you questions and being honest with you either. I think this is why many people stayed off this thread. You were rude to one of our most knowledgeable members. So that means you will more then likely be rude to us.

Now then I would go back over your husbandry with a member. temps, humidity, environment. Everything. If you don't want to do it publicly since you seem to think people are attacking you then message @Kristen Wilkins the information. It is important to make sure that the recurrence is not due to environment. Or you will end up battling this repeatedly while you are trying to rehab her.

As a member that has been through something horrific with a chameleon I purchased. You have to let your pride walk out the door. It is not a situation of if you did something wrong. It is a situation of how do I correct it. What steps do I take as a Keeper to save this baby. Not all can be saved. But I can guarantee the second you worry more about what someone thinks of you is when your emotional response will take over and you will not be able to rationally respond. Your coming to the situation exposed and vulnerable. But I can guarantee the more open you are with us the more we want to help.

You are either young or just naive, but I have read all your previous posts, there weren't that many. You have not stated what your humidity or misting regime is like in a single one of them so your humidity may very well be off and actually be the cause of the issue. But you would rather argue than fill out the how to ask for help form, and by extension you are risking the possibile health of your cham. You came here asking for help, but you haven't really supplied enough info to let us effectively help you.

I got her seen by a vet and went over everything with her. My humidity is correct. Whats a help form? No I am not naive or young. I stated her conditions before I had her and that's where the health issues came from.

Help form was posted in the second post in this thread by @AnamCara, you never filled it out, and also a vet can be wrong, especially with animals like chams, even if they ate a exotic animal specialist as chams aren't very common I've had exotic vets ask me to ask the forums about something before when I've taken my cham in for a checkup just simply because they were not comfortable with the amount of knowledge that they had on treating chams.

Hi Emma. Very glad to hear that you are successfully helping your chameleon recover from a bad situation. The help form is used for the review of all of your husbandry, just to make sure that all is spot on. Often times we are making a small error that could have big consequences, especially with a sick cham. Not all vets are very well versed in the specifics of chams. Honestly, no one here wants to or is trying to imply anything negative about you or your Cham keeping skills. All just want to help. Here is the help form.
Here is some recommended information to include when asking for help in the health clinic forum. By providing this information you will receive more accurate and beneficial responses. It might not be necessary to answer all these questions, but the more you provide the better. Please remember that even the most knowledgeable person can only guess at what your problem may be. Only an experienced reptile veterinarian who can directly examine your animal can give a true diagnosis of your chameleon's health.

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

Please Note:
  1. The more details you provide the better and more accurate help you will receive.
  2. Photos can be very helpful.

Yes my vet is a reptile vet who's owns chamelons and works with them on a daily. I don't know if I should fill that out since I already got my answer?

I did mention this yesterday . Some of us can come across as rough and uncaring . I’m one of them that can at time come across that way .

If we can look past that and just look at the info provided it’s correct . @Brodybreaux25 as I said is an amazing keeper , one need to look past the seemingly shortness and look at the info provided . If one gives him a moment he will give more of an explanation EVERY ONE needs to remember this is not our only job or isn’t even our job . We may be given information while at our day job . Or between childrens schedules , or sickness etc . Things are not as they always seem .

by no means @EmmasKarma I’m picking on you . Please do not think that we are here to help each other and learn from one another .

And I do apologize for calling you young or naive, but I've seen a lot of people come on here, asking for help with their cham and the worst thing you can do in that situation is let your pride get in the way or be naive. You gotta be as willing and open to help as possible and that includes filling out the help form.
