I am very sorry to read this. It's hard enough when they're not 100% healthy and we kind of know their chances aren't good, but when it's unexpected.. it's such a horrible blow.
I hope the rest of your Cham Crew are all perfectly healthy!
Thank you everyone. I keep hoping that whatever it was that caused his sudden death wasn't causing him pain, especially not for days or weeks. I'd feel horrible if I found out that he was silently suffering and I wasn't aware of it. But I also highly doubt that he just peacefully drifted away in his sleep for no reason, so again, I just have to hope that he didn't suffer long. Poor baby
Thank you everyone. I took my others to my vet where we did fecals, blood tests, and a general look over and for now nothing looks at all out of the ordinary. However, Friday morning before I took them in I saw that the kink Daedalus had done to the end of his tail looked very necrotic overnight, so he stayed at the vet's all weekend and had the dead bit of tail amputated Saturday. The vet tried to be a lot more conservative removing the dead tail than I would have prefered, but he says that if we see the necrosis spreading up that he'll remove more free of charge, plus any additional meds he needs. I certainly hope that he doesn't need to go for more surgery but that's nice on the part of the vet to try to save me some money. The entire office is in love with him since he's so friendly.
