Natural Sun light questions

I live in sunny Florida and it is still nice enough for me to let my chameleons play in the sun. Every other day i leave the window open for 3-6 hours (or until the sun goes away from my window). Both my chams will just sit in direct sun light for hours and not move an inch. I don't turn on their UVB and heat light because they are sitting in the direct sun light. I was wondering if that was okay? The only time i turn on their lights is if they move away from the sun or it gets colder outside. I currently have a veiled and panther and they both enjoy sitting in the sun and neither of them ever have their mouth open and i make sure to spray them frequently (every hour) to make sure they have enough to drink while they enjoy the sun.
Thanks again :)

Window screens can filter out most of the UVB.

Enough should get through. Most of us keep chams in cages made of window screen, and they do great outdoors in such cages.

In FL they can be kept outside most of the year in screen cages, rather than just opening a window.

If they do not move out of the sun for hours and hours- they are cool and might enjoy the addition of a modest heat light in addition to the sunshine. Make sure they can move away from it though.

I moved my panthers light up to a different part of his cage so he can get more shade if needed but can bask if he wants to. He loves the sun, and my girl still just sits there she loves it!!

If you get a show, I CALL DIBS!:D:p

Let them get as much sunlight as they can. They will find shade when they are tired of it. I kept my panthers outside all year and they loved it and by outside I mean where they could get sunlight through the screen. I usually get 55 or so even through the screen on the Solarmeter.

I keep my panthers outdoors unless night temps drop below 50. Veileds I keep out unless temps drop below 40 at night. Even babies are fine at these temps for me.

I agree whole heartedly. If possible, mine are outside. Even when it gets cold, if temps get up to 75°f we are out in the direct sunlight, for as long as possible. They make it very well known to us, they like the outdoors. (Caution: predators and escapees!)

Do you have them in a cage outside? Or?

I actually double cage, most of the time. If indoors or leaving the house, i put them inside a 36" cage inside of a 48" cage. My 48" cages have xtra screening covering them. Cameras facing them, also. Just in case. If outside, just use the single cage.

I have a porch type thing that is attatched to the house but part of it is screen in, i want to keep them their during the day since the sun faces it for most of it, and they would technically be double caged- no animals (other than small lizards) get in. And their is a nice breeze for most of the right now since its "winter" here.

40? I'm scared to death to let my veiled drop below 69 degree. They are in my reptile room that is 60% humidity and between 72F-80F degrees. Its so hard when you read so many different opinions on the internet. So I thought I was just playing it safe
