native feeders?

is there any native feeders to alabama or S. Eastern U.S. that Veiled can eat.

SO any moth and grasshopper. Or does any one have a list of toxic feeders that would be nice.

lubber grasshoppers are brightly colored and toxic, pretty much any insect that does not have bright flashy colors is non-toxic.

kewl./ so what about a regular a house fly? Dragon fly? any butterfly? I can produce these throughout the summer season so if they are ok then im in luck.

house flies should only be used when cb because they eat nasty stuff in the wild and can give your chameleon coccidia, dragon flies are good, but be careful with butterflies, painted ladies, skippers, cabbage, and peacock butterflies are just a few that are safe. Watch out for monarchs, viceroys, swallowtails, etc. Dragonflies and butterflies should not be used as a staple, but grasshoppers and katydids can be used as staples.

ok thanks i will be gut loading my house flies. Here in alabama we have plenty dragonflies, Mayflies, grasshoppers, catalpa worms, and moths.

You cant feed house flies off if you have not bought them captive bred in captivity, they carry parasites when caught from the wild. Catalpa worms are toxic to a chameleon, but everything else is fine.

If you wanna feed some nutritious worms. Go with hornworms, or silks. I use wild caught bugs as treats only. Not a staple, pick a few easy to keep & gut load staple feeders such as cricks, horns, silks, & dubias. Then add a few wild caught mantids, and grasshoppers and moths. Hoppers and katydids are awesome to use as hand feeding treats to get your cham to feed from your hand. Thats how i have taught all my chams to hand feed. They love green hoppers and katydids.

no, not at all.

You can also use native phasmids aka stick insects as long as they arent a species that can discharge toxic chemicals, also such things as Luna Moths and their larva.
