Napping

I just caught Geordi napping and I have a feeling he does it a lot more than I have caught on to. His ficus tree is pretty thick and it is dark in parts of his cage. I know that he's not supposed to nap but if he's doing it in a dark place like he's just sleepy is that still bad? I'm really concerned. I know he's not sick or anything, he's been doing great and I saw him eating, drinking, basking, and exploring today. I woke him up because I was scared I hadn't seen him in like an hour. And it is 1 hr to bedtime as far as a 12 hr cycle goes... IDK any input at all would be great

was he asleep one hour befor ehis lights off tiime? if so, no worries.. if hes actually sleeping during the day, and you are sure he isnt sick (which sleeping during the day is a sign of) then it could be that its too dark.. cahms will sleep during the day when its dark, which is what we often do when we need to transport them.

We are thinking that his tree may be too dense for the lights to get all the way down to the bottom of the cage. He is napping where it is dark. I'm sure he's not sick he was very active today and is coming around great seeing as he's only been with us a week. and it is an hour to lights out, usually I wouldn't do it for two more hours but this morning I had to get up early to go to work so he got up at five, is it possible that he's tuckered from getting up early and his cycle is off?

I would suggest getting a timer. for his lights.
what probably happened is you through his sleep schedule off.

chams need consistency.

so i would get a timer. this way lights go on and off at the same time every day.
so on days like today, his lights dont have to go on when you hve to be up before normal for him.

i use a timer.
my lights come on at 715 and go off at 730.
i get home late wellpast 10 pm 3 nights aweek, but his lights are never on this late.

a timer fixes that all for you.

and if he was asleep an hour or so before lights out. its not a big deal.
as long as he isnt napping during the day.

I think I was mostly startled to find him sleeping. and JESUS are they heavy sleepers! He didn't wake up for anything. do you recommend I trim the tree to make it less dense?

and can I get a light timer at home depot?

if you think its really deense, it wont hurt to trim it back, just dont get rid of all his hiding places.
some are heavy sleepers some arent.
my male veiled can hiss at me in hsi sleep,
i can remove him from the window, he will hiss, mouth closed, and put him on his plant, and he wont even open his eyes.


kermit my male hoehnelli, will wake up at the slightest shake of his cage and the smallest amount of light..

Lily my female veiled is inbetween..
and yes you can get a timer at home depot.

i got one of those outside ones. youll probably need an extention cord or power strip, cuz mine only had one outlet in it.

Cool on the timer well probably be going to get one tonight. Yea he was so asleep I gave him a little brush with my hand and nothing. When he woke up though then he was unhappy. Now he's climbing around his cage happy as a clam. Thanks for all of your help
