Nails

I have my chameleons housed in the normal mesh cages but one of them started to lose his nails recently.

I just got home and I was looking at him and he was bleeding from his front hand and his nail was missing, he couldn't even grab the branch.

Am I doing something wrong?
Do the nails grow back?
Should I put some sort of cream on his hand?

Sorry for so many questions but I just don't know if this is normal and I hate to see him in pain.

put some neosporin on it.
the nails probably wont grow back.
i woudl just something on the inside of the cage he can climb on that his nails cant get caught in.

I'm pretty sure it won't grow back, and like camimom said put neosporan on it, you should watch it to make sure it heals correctly.
