Our male panther loves climbing on the sides of the metal mesh cage. His nails are so short that when we hold him he can barely hang on.
We have a female in a custom cage that we built using bug screen, cloth mesh and her nails are crazy sharp and long, she has an amazing grip.
We are in the process of building his custom cage which will have the same cloth mesh.
Will his nails grow back after being on his new cage? Is it because of the metal or could it be from something else.
The only difference between the two cages is the metal.
Anyway I am just concerned because I don't want him to hurt himself by falling off the walls because he can't get his nails in when they are filed down so short. He has fallen down a couple times.
We should be finished his other cage today or tomorrow so hopefully it won't be an issue once in his new cage.

And here are pics of the new cage. It still needs to dry a bit, the stain won't be dry until the morning and then Mack can enjoy his new home!
We have a bunch more decorations to add to the cage and a live plant that is in his cage right now.
We have one more part to do and that is to complete the drainage system at the bottom but I busted the piece of plexi and we don't have the right drill bits to drill the hole. The plan is to angle the plexi so the water will drop through a 6" hole which will be covered with mesh. A simple bucket will be placed underneath the cage. We have to add a panel to the sides on top and the bottom, then we are done!
Sorry they are sideways.
