There are several types of mynah in the hobby. The shiny black ones you are thinking of are either Indian Hill or Java mynah, native to SE Asia. Expect to pay over $1000 for one. There is also a common mynah which is more brownish, but very similar in personality. Very few Indian Hill or Java mynahs are successfully bred in captivity and importation from Asia has been closed for years due to bird flu and SARS fears. Common mynahs are more available and a lot less expensive. There are a couple of breeders who salvage chicks from feral nests in FL. You can find any for sale on the softbillsforsale.com classifieds. To get a good mimic you want to look for a "gaper" or a bird that's about 6-8 months old. Once they are adults they don't learn to mimic speech as easily.
If you look in to a mynah, remember that they are very social birds, so if no one will be home during the day all week the bird will definitely suffer. And, if you have close neighbors the noise can be a problem. Happy mynahs are LOUD!

On the contrary, in my opinion, Myna is usually being kept soilitary. In this case, by doing so, they can mimic human voices. The are not that loud compared to macaws or cockatoos, but be aware they are messy eaters and messy poopers. Also, be aware that they are very prones to stress and could die because of it too .. just like chameleons. attached is my mynah.

We actually have the Hill Mynah in Florida as well, the Common Mynah aren't able to mimic specific voices like the Java or Hill Mynah. However, you're likely to save about $700 with the Common Mynah
