My visit with Catherine this weekend...

This weekend I went to visit my good friend Catherine (Pardalisgirl). We've been planning to get together for a while now, she lives about an hour and 20 minutes from where I live in the pacific northwest. I have some other locals I need to visit like the Gesangs, and Pam from PamsChams.

Anyhow, Catherine is taking care fo my new ambilobe until Otto, my veiled is ready for the trade. Otto will be going to stay with Catherine and hopefully pass on his cranky old man genes to a clutch of veileds. This weekend was a chance for me to see the little ambilobe that I'll be getting (gorgeous little blue bar) , which happens to be from Josh at Lost Lake. Also it was a chance for me to take pictures of several of Catherine's show stopper breeders, as well as some of her several new Ankaramy hatchlings. One of them was only two days old if I remember correctly. I'm not going to try to remember all of the names, but Catherine can chime in if anyone has questions.

Catherine has been really busy with other home projects these past couple months, so it was really nice of her to let me and wife barge in for the afternoon and take a gig or so of photos, as well as ask a billion questions.

I had a blast! Thanks again Catherine!

Here are some of the best Photos from the visit...

OMG thank you so much for sharing, I am practically drooling. Every single one of those chameleons are SOOO gorgeous! Will you ever be getting Otto back or will he be staying with Catherine for good?

Pretty nice photos. Thanks for sharing the blast. There are some photos w/o flash and a black bg. Did you happen bring your handy black drop with you?
My fav is ca10 for the action.

Man... You do some really awesome photography... Really Amazing Shots. You have an exquisite eye and I believe you could really do something with your talent. Those Beautiful Chams are so camera friendly. Let me know when I can buy the coffee table book version!

Yes, Royden, have you thought about doing a coffee table book? It'd be great if you could do some sort of project with all those great photos. We have frequent visitors to our Cham room, which tells me that the general population is just fascinated with chameleons.

Now I REALLY need to go see Catherine. Her chameleons are fabulous (or, is it just your photo skills? ;)). And so obviously healthy and un-stressed.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Can't take a good photo unless you have a good subject!

lbesok- I may take Otto back one day, it depends on if I can get any extra room here at home. I've got a single cage house at the moment.

Vertex - I didn't actually use the black drop at all, the backgrounds tend to get darker the more I close down the aperture.

gesang - Now I REALLY need to go see Catherine. Her chameleons are fabulous (or, is it just your photo skills? ). And so obviously healthy and un-stressed. Oh no, Catherine's chams make it easy to take a good photo. Seriously stunning animals. Incredibly healthy and happy, she takes such good care of her chams, I feel guilty. I think I've got pretty good husbandry, Catherine puts me to shame. She knows what she's doing, and she knows each of her animals and their personalities. Otto could not have asked for a better home.

Justin - Just over 280 photos, so not really a gig. Over half of those were the babies, crawling all over the place with a flash that's shooting over their head. Sheesh!

ca15, 14, 13 - Are all the same Nosy Mitsio

Thanks again for all the comments everyone! For more photos you can go here - http://www.roydenspetportraits.com/

Otherwise, these were pretty much the best of the bunch from saturday.

It was a blast Royden :)

I was gone all day yesterday, so I just got to see this thread.....It really was a total "blast" to have Royden and his lovely wife Ruth over. Most of my relatives and friends are interested in my chameleons, but it is way more fun to have fellow fanatics over.

I'm going to have to pay Royden big time for all his compliments though....blush...blush....

Now it's my turn....Royden is amazing with his camera. I was telling him how hard I have tried to take pictures of these babies that show the colors that are already coming in. I have a macro lens, but I guess it and my talents are seriously deficient. He got the greens in the Ankaramy babies to come out. It was so much fun watching Royden work with these babes as they were wildly scrambling about. I'm amazed that he could get so many pictures in focus with their activity level.

I can't wait to see Otto. Royden got to see Otto's future bride "Zora" and the honeymoon suite that will be Otto's new home. And Royden can have him back any time he wants. Some of my Hydrosaurus lizards are vacationing with a friend in Florida for a couple of years for breeding.

Sandy Gesang.........your chams are gorgeous....can't wait to see your website when it's up. Can't wait to see pictures if Royden comes to visit you too :)

I hope Royden will post some more pictures that will be taken when he brings Otto over at the end of the month. We want to at least "show" Otto his new bride and see what he does. There could be some great pictures from that first encounter.

Well, thanks for all the compliments everyone. But Royden's the one that deserves them. Also, Royden will you please post your link to your illustration artwork site? Many of you may not know how extremely talented Royden is at illustration. He has written and illustrated several series of children's books that are amazing. His work as posted on his site is amazing. Spend a few minutes looking at it. I am in awe of his abilities :)
