My translucent chameleon shadow is 4 months old, 5.5 inches snout to vent and 74 grams (he’s huge), however for the past few weeks he has been browned rusty orange with brighter orange veins and turquoise spots mainly on his belly he also has more turquoise and lots of yellow barring when fired up. Is this his adult coloration or will he become a different colour, why is he coloured like this and how do I prevent it? Thanks. Any replies are appreciated. Pics below. Also if you could post pics and measurements of four month old veiled below that would be great.

Hopefully he’s just going through a brown phase and will get some color when older.
It would be a good idea to fill out the ask for help form so we can make sure that his husbandry is correct so we can weed out there’s nothing there keeping him brown.

His colors are cute! At 4 months, though, he is still growing into them and they may change a little. That mouth shot startled me lol

4-6 months old they will tend to go through a "muddy" color stage. After a few sheds you'll start seeing the adult coloration coming through.

I'm curious if this cham is going to be a high orange rather than the usual greens, yellows, and blues.

Here is a thread someone made about a orange veiled they hatched: https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/high-white-orange-veiled-chameleon.167812/
Oh thanks I wonder if it’s a coincidence that they’re both translucrnt?

It's possible. Could be a random mutation in the genes that control the scale colors or a recessive Gene that both parents had and he got lucky.

He is still young so his colors may change still. Only time will tell but he's still a good looking cham!
