My surprise has problems...

LOL!
That movie is so funny.
Yea that is a plus, its snowy white but it's prolly because hes so tiny the baytril is dulited in alot fo water :p
But i think it might dehydrate him because he seems to still drink alot when i mist, hmmmmmmm.

UPDATE:
Fuego now has a swollen "throat", its not as bad as some picture ive seen.
Ive done some reading on this and it seems the cause of this is unknown but some factors could be over supplementing,to much vitamin A, and URIs

Im not sure what the cause could be but Im guessing its a part of the suspected URI.
He had been 100% better now that hes on his meds, eyes open , still ocasionally one closes, and not as much cleaning of them. Also, no crackly breathing or bubbles from the mouth.
How ever when he take his baytril a bubble with ocsionally form, when he opens his mouth but never when hes in his viv.
Now Im hoping this sweillling is a delayed effect of the URI.
I havent been over supplementing and i know this.

Any ways,
opinions always welcome.

Okay here they are.
Hes so tiny you can barely tell but I know its not normal.
His throat is deff. swollen on both sides.
I googled it and people said its a sign of emdulde? or something like that.

At least he is pooping. That means he must be eatting. Have you heard of reptaid? Chameleon Northwest sells it. Its an all natural liquid thats supposed to help a chams immune system. If I were you I would get some. If your sure he's only about 1-2 months old he's not past the real delicate stage of development yet. I hate giving anti biotics to chams that young. Mainly because meds will cause chams to need more water to stay hydrated and with a body weight of less than 2 grams theres just not much room for error. Good Luck with him and check into that reptaid.

Oh he drinks drinks and drinks.
Ive seen him and his urates look great (trust i know LOL!)
and the baytril is super diluted in water so that just more water in his system.
But...its the only option I have.
I dont wanna see him die and suffer
If you saw him the first day i rushed to the vet and skipped work youd be heart broken :(
It was a horrible sight.
But hes gettin better now and I suspect this might be a delayed effect of the URI.
Im going to call my vet now and see what she thinks.

Just saw your pics. That looks like it could be gular edema. Which is usually caused by oversupplementing. Or it could be from what your feeding your feeders. You arent giving your feeders dog food or cat food are you? Also when you dust you arent coating them heavily? thats a no no. How often are you using D3? You should be dusting every day with plain Calcium and twice monthly W D3.

I know how to supplement LOL!
I swear im not over dusting and jesus I would never gut load with cat food LMAO!
I do the standard light coated calcium w/o phophorus and d3 and the every 2 weeks calcium with d3.
I havent started him on his d3 schedual yet i wanted to wait a month so I know for sure he'll be on the every 2 weeks schedual.
I also read that it could also be from uris and other things as well.
and there a lot of different cause of it

Now what Im thinking is the baytril is so diluated in water when I give fuego its to much water and it could be the gular edema cause.
Im to give fuego .14ml of this water to fuego every 12 hours.
I feel thats too much water for a chameleon that only weighs 1.7 grams.
Should I tell me vet I want to quit it the baytril?
Now hes fine?
Also, if it is the water/baytril solution do you think it could be the problem?

I didnt want to sound negative but at that stage it can be a toss up. Some bounce back fine others just dont make it no matter what is done. I personally think those are just the weakest ones fom each clutch that wouldnt have ever even hatched and dug out in the wild. I would try the reptaid its been proven to help as attested to by many members on this forum. I havent used it yet but i keep saying im going to just buy some and keep it on hand. Just in case.

It wouldnt be in for a week if I ordered now.
I need solutions for now.
I really strongly feel from what ive read its the baytril/water solution.
It just ahs too much water in it and I feel that is causeing it.
Im going to talk to my vet but i really not feeling to confident in her right now.

With a cham that small they have to dilute it so as not to give the animal a toxic dose of meds. Hate to say it but thats why breeders shouldnt sell chams that are that young. They should be a minimum of 2.5 -3 months based on size as some do grow faster than others. Jmpo.

Your absloutly right.
I agree 100%.
My husband basically showed up with them about a week ago and told me hed got them as gifts for me :/
He, sadly, knows nothing about chameleons.

UPDATE:
Im taking fuego to the vet tomorrow @ two.
Im switching vets also Im very disappointed in my last vet and I let him know!
He recommened me to a bird and exotic vet in seattle.
It better be a damn good vet cuz an exam is 54 bucks and a fecal is 40.

But anything to help my little fuego :(
If this doesnt work out im going to be heart broken.

UPDATE:
Took fuego to the new vet.
I was impressed this time.
Herp society ftw!
She agreed the last vet was giving fuego was to much water in her solution and that was causing the gular edema.
It was so much water that his body couldn't process it or something like that and so her body was retaining it and causing the gular edema.
So we took him off baytril and she proscribed me gentocin eye drops to kill any infection that was left behind her eyes.

Has any one used this before?
