My special "little" Pumori

I have been holding out on posting picture of my favorite little lady Pumori. She came to us in a little bit of ruff shape from the breeder but through dedication on my wife's part she has made a full recovery and is now doing GREAT. She is such a sweet cham and has become a family favorite. She was showing some great colors outside today in our wonderful 70 deg AZ weather so I had to share her with you all.

I will start with how she came to us and progress to the more recent shots and then today. Let me know how you think she is coming along

Thanks Kara I will keep that in mind But she has made a VERY good recovery thanks to my wife who would take her outside for 2-3 hrs a day and gave her liquid calc. etc. Also the Bokazar babies are just hatching so I will have another 8-12 mo to observe and care for her before she is mated if at all....if I feel she is ok...I will go for it

That sounds better, but be very careful. It would be a shame if her body couldn't handle it. I'm sure a vet visit with an experienced vet would help shed more light on the issue when the time comes.

No she hasn't. She was just barely 5mo in that first picture when I got her back in October. So she will not be a year till the end of May. She gets liquid calc once a week and Repashy Calc Plus on her feeders.

I may be assuming your tone sorry...but I am just trying to show off my favorite cham, one I am proud of helping. If you are upset at anyone you should be upset at the high profile breeder that sent her to me that way...and then did nothing except to offer a refund IF I sent her back, to make it right. They KNOW better and for being one of the most respected names in the game REALLy disappoint!!!

she did a great job with her rob, nice thread to show her off an you know better whats best for her so dont pay the kid no mind she cut bk food on her male so it wouldnt lay eggs... she would be a perfect mate for one bokazars boys..

Pumori had MBD? Just curious here... If a cham has had MBD and is cured, but still shows tell-tale signs like bent limbs....Are they OK to breed or can it be spread to the eggs still?

This isn't really the thread for these questions. I have a thread in the Health section about her from when I first got her. But to answer your question and hopefully educate. Yes she had very early MBD. The legs get bent (broken) from a lack of calcium...(to put it simply) This isn't a Genetic disease so NO it can't be spread to the eggs. It IS a very avoidable and understood disease that is more of a deficiency than "disease" in that it can't be spread or inherited. This breeder KNOWS better and it was a lack of care that caused her issue.

Being that Pumori had a very early case and mild case she has fully recovered and her legs look straighter but will never be perfect because they have "healed" this way...but they can be every bit as strong and functional as a cham that has never had these deficiencies.

We made the "easy" choice to keep her and help her rather than send her back to the breeder for a refund. I would like to thank Jann, Anne, Suzi and others for the help, support and most importantly knowledge to do our best for her. She isn't a crippled cham! She is as active and mobile as any of our chams and has the best personality to boot.

She is a very lovely girl! I love her colors, I think females are so understated. She looks like a doll as well, what a sweetie.
