My Sister's Cham

My sister had the great good fortune to be teaching a 2 week class in South Africa (courtesy of the Rotarians!). After the class she took a 3 day safari at Mosetlha Bush Camp, and I asked her to find me a cham.

She did!!

Personally I would not have taken it out of its natural habitat and would release it back if you can. Or did she just take a picture of it for you????????

LMAO! of course its just a picture! I'm going to try to get a copy of the original pic to post...Its lovely in that thorn bush, its tail all curled up.

Haha, first thing I thought of when I read this post was, HERE COMES THE MORAL DEBATE! Even though I realized the OP had only taken a picture.

haha besides, its would be pretty hard to smuggle that beauty back to the US:rolleyes:

Sounds like a cool trip! Hope she had fun! :)

I never even thought it would be read that way. I was not teasing or misleading, just reporting what I asked and that she actually SAW a cham in the wild! too excited to reread for clarity. She also bagged (photo-bagged) a lilac breasted roller that is jaw-droppingly beautiful.

I highly recommend anyone interested in a safari to check out Mosetlha.

Anyway, here is a better rendition I think

What sort of cham is this?
Thx

It is a nice Flap Neck chameleon. Probably quite common in the area she was in. I haven't seen one of those in years but there seems to be a lot of other people finding them around Gauteng again.

I find the best safaris to be around the north of africa in Limpopo and Mpumalanga and into the South of Mozambique. I saw a lot of different species of reptiles in the Kruger Park.

Hi Roxy! welcome to the forum. Your chameleon is beautiful!

The best way to ask for advice or information is to start your own thread on the most appropriate board. There is also a sticky called 'how to ask for help' that provides a comprehensive list of things that the members here need to know to best give you help. It covers things like lighting, heat, food, caging. Its a pain to fill out, but worth it because it will answer all OUR questions about how you're currently maintaining the cham.

Hey Roxy, its best if you start a new thread like how I told you in the PM I sent you. But your female does look good and is gravid from what I can see.
She should be laying them pretty soon too. If you have some babies I definitely want to get 1 or 2 :D

roxy...make sure once she starts digging don't let her see you watching her or she will likely abandon the hole. Also...you don't have the male in the same cage with her or where they can see each other do you?

thanx

Hey thanx a lot hehehe .. No they are not in the same cage as she is very agressive sowards the male .. And I will surely contact you as soon as she lays them and they breed out so you can have one or 2 hehehe thanx for all the help pretty sure I'll have lots more questions as time passes by .. Realy appreciate the help
