Hi my name is Patrick i have a Pather Chameleon i bought on April 21st he was than 6 weeks so today he would be 6 months at this point, everything has been fine until recently i put him on a vine from outside he than feel about 1 ft and seems perfectly fine than i notice he wasnt eating the crickets one night and was on the bottom of the cage he was also dark brown i than took all the crickets out the cage and put him under the basking light he started to brighten up and looks healthy but he isnt moving around much and everytime he tries to move his arms and legs are shaking pretty bad im going to upload a picture of rangoo i thought maybe he was dehydrated even though i personally mist his cage 4 to 5 times a day please i did a 50/50 pedialyte with warm water soak and he is still falling i have an 100 wat basking light and a 25 watt heating lamp with a uvb light i also have a 3 foot mesh cage with vines and the climbing vine wrapped he is a chubby chameleon i feed him as much as he can eat.. i need the info sheet so i can officially fill everything out.. i also will have pictures..

My Pather Chameleon keeps falling and isnt moving arond much..

Chameleon Info:
Rangoo-Pather Chameleon, still dont know sex, Owned him for 4 months. He has been in my care for 4 Months bought him April 21
Handling - My son loves our chameleon very much he takes him out atleast once a day and hold him and pets him he doesnt show any signs of stress i dont let him keep him out longer than 25 mins
Feeding - Crickets, mealworms, hornworms, waxworms, i give him usually 5 to 6 crickets a day and a butter worm or meal worm, and a horn worm if he wants to chase it which he usally does.
How are you gut-loading your feeders? Gutloaded with Flukers cricket quencher "Calicium Fortified,i also feed the crickets along with cricket quencher Zilla Cricket& Insect Food,
Supplements - i shake all his food in Reptolife Plus which is a powdered nutritional supplement i do it every other day.
Watering - I used a mister that i spray i usally do it four to five time a day and i did see him drinking water very often but for the last two days he hasnt moved around to much i usually mist for about 1 and 1/2 minutes till i see droplets on the vines
Fecal Description - usually normal brown with the white on the top. no i havent had it tested for parasites i will be taking him to the vet this week if this continues.

Cage Info:
Cage Type -i have a mesh screen cage the dimensions are 3 feet in length and 2 feet in width Lighting - Exo-Terra uvb 5.0, Flukers 100 watt-120 volt, i also added another flukers 25 watt-120 volt lamp to keep the cage comfy because the screen is close to a window and does get alil. What is your daily lighting schedule? 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Temperature - 90 degrees to about 100 if he is close to the top usually hangs out mid way in the cage.i dont use a night lamp the house is usally around 65 degress at night.
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? I havent measured the humidity levels but i regularly spray and it is very humid where i live so it seems fine.
Plants - i use the vines from the store i was considering putting live plants but im alil scared i dont know which kind would be perfect any suggestions
Placement - Where is your cage located? The cage is located on top of a stand so its about 4 1/2 feet up Location - Nyack New York in the mountains lol

The Problem: It didnt start happening till recently he hads lots of energy and wouldnt stay still but recently he isnt moving at all and everytime he tries he just falls right out the vines he usally chases all his food which he hasnt been doing either i thought maybe he was dehydrated so i did a 15 min soak with pedialyte and warm water it helped but he is still falling whenever he reaches for a vine he is very shaky and can hardly grip anything i put an old shirt on the bottom and an old towel to cushion his fall i will be taking him to the vet as soon as i cant get a chance but i would like to try to help him at home and avoid that costly bill if it can be avoided lol.... he is alittle chubby i was thinking thats why but im scared me and my son love rangoo dearly and will do anything to keep him alive and kicking.....

Temp is way to high I would say. Iv never had a panther but my Jackson's like it in the low 80 and bask is the highest temp of around 88-90. And it should be so cold at night for it. A small drop in degrees is fine but no so cold

supplementing.
It needs work and ur symptoms are a big sign.. he needs plain calcium with no d3 daily and a seperate calcium WITH D3 twice a month. and a multivit 2 a month.
I alternate Sundays. Everyother d3 opposite multivit. I like the rep-cal brand. Though plain calcium can be hard to find depending on where u live. I buy mine from amzon.com

Ur temps do seem a little high knocking 100. Panthers do like there basking heat but I would shoot for 90-92 and 95 as a max to prevent burns make sure there's 6-8 in. Of distance between.

U should definatly get a hygrometer to mesure humdiity there cheap from walmart. U should have 55-60% to 85%+ dutiful misting which should tske place 2-3 times a day for 2-4 min. Intervals.. :)

R it's back legs always bent like that? It looks like it might have a case of MBD but don't take that to the bank yet I'm not an expert. But it's back legs seem to be bent in a odd manner. And not having strangth to crab and climb. I would get him check by the vet as soon as I can. And maybe do some research on MBD to see if this is something that fits your chams problems

Congratulations you have a girl! :)
She needs a vet very quickly, her legs look messed up, possible MBD and she may be gravid...
Good luck and well wishes

Is his grip strong? His back legs dont look to hot.. is research MBD (metobalic bone disease)
He may need to see a vet for calcium injections if thate the case..

Thats a girl. ANd she has MBD.

You need to see a vet for blood work and calcium injections.

You also need to do more research on supplemetning, and gutloading.

For starters thats not a male thats a female. She is extremely overweight also. She needs a drastic reduction in feeders. She also needs a better supplementation schedule. I dont have any knowledge about the supplemts you are using now. But I would switch to plain calcium at most feedings and a multi vit 2x a month and plain calcium w vit D3 added 2x a month. So you need 3 diff supps. Also what are you gutloading her insects with? You really need to research gutloading items and make sure her feeders are well fed so that shes getting optimal nutrition not just eatting a bunch of empty cricks.

In those pics she looks to have gular edema pretty severely. (Bloated puffy neck region) This could be caused by the supplemnt your using. Personally I would start really gutloading properly with a good dry grain gutload like Crick crack, and veggies & fruits for hyration. I wouldnt use any supplements for a week and see if the sweeling goes away. Then after the swelling/edema is gone I would put her on the supplement schedule I advised above.

Also make sure she has access to a proper laying bin. Being a female and being overfed she may start or have already started producing eggs. She'll need somewhere to lay them. I use old plastic plant buckets with a 50/50 mix of organic top soil & sand. make sure its damp not soaking wet.

i will start the vitamins supplements asap i did notice the bag legs are alil swollen i will be taking her to the vet asap i do have a lamp clamp to put the lamp higher and i will be putting it to use.. i will start looking into mbd

In MBD would swelling occur? Like in the back two legs?

Im not a medical expert but when my bones break it swells. It's the body doing wat it can to fix te issue.

We cannont condemn it. U must have xrays done to properly assess the situation. And the most extreme care when handling should be taken while transporting to vet. No for fun handling.

for supplements.. i shake all his food in Reptolife Plus which is a powdered nutritional supplement i do it every other day.. i also gutload her crickets with fluckers thirst quencher and zilla cricket and insect gutload i did notice that the crickets will grow rapidly when i used those gutloads so continued to keep using them i regularly put potatoes too..

Most if not all of her issues can be traced back to her lack of a proper supplementation schedule & her lack of access to gutloaded feeders. Potatoes arent a good option for gutloading. They will hydrate your crickets but are just a starch/carb not much in the form of vitamins in a potato. You need stuff like apples, carrots, oranges, romaine lettuce, spinach, kale, squash, sweet potato, zucchini, etc...

And the commercially avail dry gutloads are mostly trash. Crick crack which is made by a forum member is great & Ive heard that bug burger is good for a commercial diet. Also Dino fuel is good.

Is this the product? http://www.tetra-fish.com/sites/tetrafish/catalog/Detail.aspx?id=4374

It does not appear to have calcium in it. This board recommends calcium without D3 every day, D3 2x/month, a multivitamin 2x/month.

When it comes to what you feed the crickets, worry more about what food is good for your chameleon. Sandrachameleon's blog is the "go to" place for information about good gutloads: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/

My suggestion right now would be to switch to some dark leafy veggies, a bit of fruit and maybe sprinkle that Reptolife Plus on top of it.

I strongly suspect you have an egg issue with your female so you need to get a laying bin in for her. If there's room in the cage, a bin that's approximately 12 inches in each direction would be ideal. You can fudge it a bit. She needs to be able to move around the top easily and it needs to be able to handle a fairly long tunnel (so, at least 10 inches deep). Washed play sand--which you can usually get at WalMart or Home Depot--is a good laying medium. You want it to be moist enough to hold a tunnel (drill one with your finger, she might even use it). Make sure she has vines or branches that let her access the bin easily.

i also checked her lighting and all the vines are atleast 5 inches down from the basking lamo so she is getting almost 90 degress i do need to start supplementing more frequently i just hope she is ok and this mdb will not affect her i will be taking her to the vet most likely this week no later than next also buying a calcium only supplement and a calcium with d3 and her multivitamin which i know i give her is Tetrafauna reptolife plus i looked at the link and yes that is the one i use for her.... she is only 6 months do you think being that she is overfed that is the reason she is laying eggs so early?

When females have high temps and lots of food, yes they will produce eggs earlier in life and more frequently. Egg production can also shorten their life span.

reduce her basking temp and food intake, and that will reduce or stop egg production.

Unfortunately, the effects of MBD are irreversible. You can treat the calcium defiency, but you cannot straighten the bones in her legs.

You need to get her into natural sunlight immediately. it will help.

She needs calcium now.

i just tried to give her some calcium with d3 she hasnt eaten the worm yet i also put it in the cricket food along with lettuce and some fresh blueberries this is crazy like it happened over night she was fine last week. i took 1 lamp away and i am now going to start feeding her every other day ofcourse thank you guys lots this is my first chameleon but i do plan on getting another hopefully a male ofcourse i purchased this one at the reptile show we had and i guess the guy knew something was wrong only got her for a 100 flat... now i see why but i will get her calcium levels up and take her to the vet asap.
