I don't think this is MBD. But what i would do in case what i would do is heat up the cage a little so that the mucus in his throat clears up. Try adding another heat lamp and make the basking point a little higher. Don't mist at night time. Sometimes when chameleons have to much mucus or saliva in their throat they will keep their mouths open like yours. Also make sure that he gets his UVB as well as some natural sun if you can. Also make sure that you include a little more of the Vitamin D3.

You guys can't jump to conclusions that he has MBD just from a couple of pictures??? Just cause he has his mouth open slightly?? I think more pics would be needed and a little more background..don't you think????

Wow now that you mention it, I see his bent elbows. He does look like he needs some treatment for a few issues. But we'd be more than happy to help you get everything sorted out and get him into excellent condition.

Hah all this reading must be paying off. When I 1st saw the 2nd pic of the lil guys front right arm I thought something might be amiss. Does that look right to all your trained eyes?

MBD is a possibility, but a few pictures isn't enough to confirm the diagnosis. Also, it is possible that the animal suffered from MBD in the past, while being completely healed now (well as much as you can heal MBD...).

All we need now is to wait for the owner's answer! :)

mbd

he is recovering from mbd, we took him to a reptile specialist vet a while ago and found out, along with a parasite. he is on a daily regiment of a calcium supplement, but his mouth is taking the longest to reverse, a few months ago he had rubber bones and needed to be watched very carefully, but he is thriving now, his mouth closes completely, but sometimes he pokes his lil tongue out. He drinks and eats like a champ though, thanks for all your concerns

It's good to see you took care of it :)

Opus is such a beautiful boy! Looks like he really enjoys his hibiscus ;)

He is beautiful. But as soon as I saw his rubber jaw and rounded elbow I suspected mbd right away....not gona lie. He's pretty though.

Yea his jaw is no longer rubber though, I work for a dvm that specializes in reptiles and he sees opus regularly now because I have been home from college for the summer and his bone hardened like that because when they were rubber his tongue weighed it down and it just healed that way...poor guy
