My new little guy

"Your Chameleon" - Veiled male, I have had him 2 days he is 3 to 4 months old

Handling- I have not handled him at all

Feeding- he is eating between 15 to 20 crickets a day I have silkworms and supers having in the mail this week but his main diet is crickets. What I am gutting the crickets with is rocket and basil and bug burger is on the way in the mail

Supplements- I am using Rep-Cal Calcium without D3 everyday and Rep-Cal calcium with d3 and multivitamin once every 2 weeks

Watering- I am using a hand sprayer for now I am going to be getting a mistking in a couple of weeks I misted him 4 times a day and I have a dropper I saw him drinking from it yesterday which is good news :)

Fecal Description- well I haven't seen any yet but I am thinking it will be healthy once I see it I will update

History- I got him from flchams

Cage info- I have a Zilla metal screen cage it is 18"L by 12"W and 20"H I know it is small for him I will be getting a 18 by 18 by 36 in a week

Lighting- I have daylight blue bulb from zoo med 60 watt and I do have a UVB light the bulb is a Reptisun 5.0 and it's only 3 days old

Temperature- his basking spot is 92 and all around it ranges from 70 to 85 I use a temp gun

Humidity- I use a little gauge from zoo med and when I mist the humidity goes to about 60 or 70%

Plants- all my plants are fake but that will change once I get my new cage

Placement- it is in my room no one goes in there but me

Location-Northern California

So there is nothing wrong with Dino I just wanted to post this to make sure I have everything right and the cage will change but ya if there is something I have to change let me know :) oh and when I got him he was shedding :)

Congrats on your new chameleon it seems like you've done a great job so far! Keep up the good work! When you get your new enclosure and plants make sure you wash the leaves of your plants very thoroughly, soapy water works well. Replant them in organic soil and soak any dirt and fertilizer off the roots. The sooner you fix up the plants the better, it will let any fertilizers be metabolized by the plant and also let the plant stabalize before you throw together the new enclosure. It's always a major PITA trying to quickly clean and repot plants so I'm just trying to help you from repeating my mistakes!

92* is considered by some here a little warm for a young cham but it will be just fine as long as he can cool off away from the bulb. Don't worry about too low of humidity unless it's going down to the 30's just make sure the entire enclosure regularly dries out completely. Sorry if you already know everything I've told you! Just want to make sure your cham is happy as possible :D Does he have a name??

Thanks that's very useful info thank you and it does drop to the 30s that's what sucks I have to almost must once in our hour but I will set my mistking that way and his name is Dino :)) cause my girlfriend thinks veileds look like Dinosaurs lol :)

No problem glad you found it useful! I'm guessing your humidity dips so easily is because California is a heck of a lot drier than my area. A lot of members here who have trouble keeping humidity up line a few of the sides of the enclosure from top to bottom in plastic. This will help a ton! First try 1 or 2 sides, see how that works for a few days. If humidity still won't stay regular then do 3 sides leaving the front and top open! Remember using this plastic is going to make a big difference in humidity but also cut down airflow a lot so you will definitely want to mist less.

How are you measuring your humidity? Oh Dino is a great name! Veileds are awesomely ancient looking

Ya I know it sucks well the thing is I have 3 sides covered in plastic and I use a reprifogger just to keep it at 60% and that includes misting once an hour :/ but my next cage will have a screen bottom so drainage is a thousand better and it is zoo med's humidity gauge I don't know if they are 100% right on or not :/

Well you may want to get another gauge just to be on the safe side. I've heard these are decent but I've never used one personally, not too hard to find either:

I personally don't think a veiled would ever need to be misted every hour maybe every 2-3 at most. Especially if you are using the fogger! I'm no expert I've only owned 2 Veiled's just want to help you keep Dino happy!

The last analogue hygrometer I used showed super low numbers when I compared it two decently functioning ones. I just threw that one out, but now I'm paranoid and use like 3 probes in the hot spot and 2 hygrometers next to eachother and believe the average... lol

Thanks I will definitely get that one I will look into it first and I know I shouldnt mist that much it's only when I see it down in the 30s and then I mist and it jumps to 50 to 60s area which is perfect :)) and I know I will post a better picture soon :))
