Leave the camera at least 18 inches away from the chameleons to take photos that are focussed. Most digital p/s have a minimum distance of over a foot, seems like you are surpassing your's limit.

i did have it a good distance away it is the camera i'm using right now until i get my nikon back from my brother is really old. i do take some good photos usually
