My new Cham

Bsimms

New Member
I have just bought my first Veiled Chameleon and I am new to the forums. I just thought I would say hello and introduce you all to Steve. He is about three months old and I am really loving him. Please tell me what you think of Steve and if you could give me any helpful tips that would be nice as I am new to all of this. Thanks!

Not sure why my picture didn't show up if someone would please help me with that too that would be nice lol

Welcome to the forum! glad to have you here :)

i am currently unable to see the pic of Steve, i believe because of my connection but i look forward to checking him out when my connection speeds up!

this is a caresheet we give to new veiled owners. it has all the crucial info needed to give Steve a healthy and long life :) https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/

this is a great blog about different feeders for your chameleon and how much they can make of your chams diet https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/74-feeders.html

and this blog is a great recipe to gutload your feeders with so that they are giving your cham the most nutrition possible!! https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/75-feeder-nutrition-gutloading.html

if you have any questions, always feel free to ask! we are here to help you and your cham as much as we can :)

Look forward to getting to know you and Steve :D

you could try uploading it again. what you do is when you go to reply, click go advanced, scroll down to manage attachments, upload your photo, and it should show up! if it is too large it may not be able to be uploaded so you could try cropping it if there is anything extra around Steve :)

Ok I tried it again lets hope this works and I don't look stupid lol

it worked!

the pics are small so hes rather hard to see, but how long is he from snout to vent? unless he is very small, i dont believe that is a veiled

Well I made the pics really small on accident but he is about 4 inches with his tailed curled up and where I bought him they told me he was a veiled unless the lied lol

Lets try this one more time! It wont let me upload my other pics because they might be too big. So just click on this one to make it bigger and that might help. Ill get the hang of things lol

in the one you just posted he does look like a veiled :)

i was concerned because in the first two it looked like he may be a senegal, flapneck, or graceful but in the pic you just posted i can see the more of the prominet casque that veileds have! i do believe you have a veiled there, sorry for freaking you out for a moment there!!

Well hopefully I will find out what he really is so I can take the best care of him. And I wil post more pics of him because his colors are really start to look cool.

In one pic I have he looks like he has army camo on. He has lots of light green dark green and brown.

what you can do to verify what he is, is get a real good close pic of him and post it in the chameleon identification forum. this will allow you to get lots of opinions on what he is :) after the last pic i believe hes a veiled, its always better to be safe then sorry tho!!

looking forward to seeing more pics of him, hes a handsome little guy :)

I'm thinking about breeding him. I might buy a female Cham off of FLchams(or if there is a better place you guys know of) but I was wondering how long I should wait?

you definitely want to wait until you have him completely settled in and are fairly experienced with him as breeding and incubating eggs is not a simple process. you also have to wait until the female is at the very least a year old to breed her. in the caresheet for veiled i linked it goes somewhat into breeding and egg incubation if you would like to check that out :)

as for where to get your female, there are lots of great and reputable breeders here on the forum. there are members that breed as well as some of the site sponsors. im going to be getting my next veiled from one of the site sponsors, Tiki Tiki Reptiles within the next month! :D

Colors to come!!!

Just wait when he hits his first growth spurt you'll see the magic happen. I have had alot of chams and so have alot of others here on the forums so if ya need anything just ask we're all here to help ... Welcome to the forums !
Oh remember no question is a stupid one when it comes to caring for your pets!!!!
