My new baby Ambilobe Morph!

Got my new male from Kammerflage Kameleons today! He hatched sometime in September and is a real Chameleon mutt with 50% Ambilobe x 18.75% Ambanja x 12.5% Nosy Be x 12.5% Sambava x 6.25% Maroantsetra. It's been about 4 or 5 years since I've had a baby chameleon and I totally forgot how small they are! and for that matter how small baby crickets are! Big difference between the Water Dragon and Leopard gecko I'm used to.
The cage is also new, I've been working on it for the last month and already I think my best yet. It's approximately 2'x2'x4' and has a divider halfway up so I can use it as a raised baby cage. Unfortunately I've found that my new little boy likes to go in and out of the pvc coated wire mesh which I added to make sure he stays off the screening. I'll have to watch out and make sure he doesn't get stuck when he gets older. I also think I should raise my ReptiSun 5.0 since he likes to climb right under it and would be about an inch from the bulb. My lighting schedule is on from 10am till 8:30pm. Since it's winter here I'm cutting back on the normal 12 hours and because he just went a 3 hour time shift from California to Ohio so I'm starting them a little later in the day.
So far in the first day I've seen him eat 3 small crickets (not dusted yet and about a 1/4 inch long) but I also let a bunch go in the cage in addition to the ones in the 2 feeding dishes. He's drinking from the dripper, moving around a little bit and has pooped. So all in all I think he's doing ok for his first day. I've tried my best to stay away and not watch him to keep the stress to a minimum but I did end up taking a couple pictures...

Very nice...I love your setup...looks good! Man I was just trying to figure out the 6.25%...wow he is a 4th generation from to morphs...I couldn't figure it out completely but I am sure he will be a great looking cham...Kammers produce some good looking chams.

Good looking enclosure, but whats been your luck keeping him inside!? I have adult females that can slip through that green screening. Have gun with your new family member!

Thanks guys!

This is black pvc coated wire mesh with 3/4 inch diameter openings which is set in 3/4 inch away from the metal screening which keeps the crickets in. I set it in because I don't want my chameleon to catch his nails in the metal screening.

Nice setup! Did you build in yourself?

yep, it's all out of pine w aluminum angles to cover the screws & screening edges on the sides. There is a concrete mixing tub in the base w a drain at the bottom and a back wall made of coated aluminum. So after years of making cages that have leaked water all over my room, I think I've finally got one that works quite well.

Buuuuut east coast and west coast panthers can't hybridize past one generation and have fertile offspring....:D (sorry, inside joke)

CP, he looks like he should have some cool color potential. I hope you keep us updated as he grows older.

must have been expensive. I would guess an extra $50 to make it look all pretty and nice. You put the art in cage building with the leak proof sides and the extra molding, and extra screen. PM me your plans if you wouldn't mind. NIce Job Again

hey nice lil cham you got there and love the cages also its sweet because as your dude grows all you gota do is just keep lower that shelf down and befor you know it he'll be one big bugger rippin around everywhere aahah
