I've always wanted to own a reptile shop. Since my counselor set up my highschool classes she asked me hobbies, I said reptiles, and apparently I "HAVE" to go to college to own a reptile shop. Is that true? I highly doubt it.

She wouldn't even let me pick the classes I wanted. Do you know what the study of reptiles is called. HERPEtology. Do you know how many giggles that ensues from classmates?

If I wanted to own a profitable reptile store. I'd go to college, you can take your classes on biology & anatomy. Then minor in business. So you'll learn the money side of the operation also. All the herp classes and education in the world isnt going to help you if you cant understand the economics of daily operations. (Taxes, Payroll, Leasing, etc...) Plus I'd take a few classes in marketing also. Advertising is a large part of the overhead involved in running any business. If you do your own graphics and comp marketing it'll save you a ton....

With that mind set, you are correct. I had to work during the day, and do school at night. YOU CAN afford college, its just what are you willing to do about it. Hard work and dedication can get you there, don't forget grants (free money).
Marketing is a joke. I took 3 yrs of it basically off and on as well as Graphic design and banking & international business. I wish I would have spent that money on more terrariums and better uses a long time ago

Biology is one of the most usefull degrees out their. Your state may give you money for good grades to go to college nvs gonna give me 10k if they still have it

Everyone in nv who has a 3.25 gpa and goes instate gets it.nvs not great on education so your state may have a program like this.

id rather have some biology degrees about now.
I have a Marketing Degree and it's pretty much worthless, but it did get me a much higher paying job than before I had the degree, plus helped me start my own seo/website business. I think the experienced gained and networking was the most valuable part of the degree.

Im majoring in criminal justice, minoring in marketing or architecture (undecided ) but my plans are hop on the force for 20 years, retire young, and open up a reptile shop with my nice pension

Do what i did karma join the military i was army but if your bright and smart and if i could do it over again i say join the air force due to the fact that their schools are technical education plus you will have a better chance of doing college classes and get a lot knocked out and its free plus you get payed for it. Plus all your military school goes to college credit and by that time when u get out of the service you will only have to take. Few extra classes to get your bachelors or master depending how hard you work at it plus when u finish up you will be getting almost around 1700 a month from your gi bill plus u will also be able to get maxed out for unemPloyment. And being a vet you dont have to look for a job while going to scholl so that almost 4 grand a month right there And you only have to take a few classes at a time to collect all that you earned
