I have to show off my gorgeous little girl, Isis! She is an 11 month old veiled, who I brought home at 11 weeks of age. I bought her from a big box pet store and didn't realise two things when I bought her: 1) they told me she was male and...2) she came to me with pneumonia that I didn't catch till it was almost too late!
Stupidly enough I should have realised she was a female because I'm not a rookie cham keeper but I forgot to check her for spurs and her vent was a bit puffy which lead me to believe she was in fact, a male after all. It was after I noticed her becoming very chubby, and clawing at the bottom of her viv that I had an epiphany and realised "okay, I've got a girl here...lol" Soon after the first clutch was laid I noticed she was sleeping during the day and had a raspy, intake of breathing. Off to the vet we went where I was advised she more than likely had caught the pneumonia from being in the pet store (which made me mad to think she'd been suffering for 7 months but I didn't notice any symptoms earlier!) After 5 weeks of Baytril, alot of hands on care, cuddles and love along with alot of worrying, she has come through it all in great health and strength!
So anyways, I'm really proud of her and all that she and I have been through together, so I wanted to show her off a bit!
Here's Isis!
ps: The first picture is just after she arrived home and had settled in for the night. She looks like such a sad little girl!
