My Jackson's Chameleon seems sick.

Hi everyone. I am new to this site. I was asking google & I was reading some posts about the chamelon being sick.

Chameleon Info:

• Your Chameleon - Jackson's Chameloen,Male,Small,I got him from a pet shop about 1 month ago.
• Handling - twice a week
• Feeding - 1 large cricket a day in the morning. I put lettuce for the crickets to eat.
• Supplements - I don't have any.
• Watering - I have a spray bottle I spray on the leaves and the cage.
• Fecal Description - Hes never been tested for parasites. He has brown/white poop.
• History - I just got him from the pet shop. They said I only need to feed him one cricke a day & they said the large cricket is okay for him.

Cage Info:

• Cage Type - I use a netted laundry basket for my cage.
• Lighting - I just have him by the natural window lighting.
• Temperature - I dont have any equipment.
• Humidity - Im not sure. I dont have equipment.
• Plants - I use branches from a guava/mountain apple tree,I use fern leaves/mountain apple leaves.
• Placement - I have the netted basket cage hanging on the wall near a window. It is high off the floor.
• Location - Im in Hawaii.

Current Problem - Today my chameleon seems very sleepy. He didnt eat a cricket today. Usually he would be excited & come up and get it from my hand. It has been rainy these days & also hot. I live in Hawaii. Im not sure what to do. He kept closing his eyes like hes just so sleepy.

prepare to spend a few hundred bucks...

he needs uv lighting, a window will not let uvb through very well!
in front of the window it can easily become to hot as well.
he needs humidity and lots of it, you need to.spray him multiple times a day for some minutes. Add life plants to keep humidity in.

a laundry basket doesn't seem like a good terrarium to me either it looks to small and will not work for drainage.

1cricket isn't enough, they need like 10 every other day dusted (lightly) with calcium without D3.

ur in hawaii, u can.probably keep him outside all year, there is.not better place for him to be.

Right now you need to care for it and probably take it to the vet.
Shame you removed the pics others may have been able to give advise.

I raise and breed Jacksons outside in Florida.
You can still attempt to save him
If you can bring to a vet great. If not you can, syringe feed or attempt careful force feeding with calcium, d3 and multivit supplement mixed in meat baby food or a dead soaked in water superworm/cricket/roach, especially if he will open mouth and carefully place insect in mouth without hurting the jaw.
If you an catch a grasshopper or praying mantis (green insects preferred) it could stimulate feeding response.
Yes he needs an appropriate cage, uvb lighting and water drip system as well as a. Vet exam and fecal.

Never a good solution to release a pet into the wild.

Hopefully you will take the advice given above and do it today! I see too many posts like this where members are asking for help and they are given all of the correct info within a few hours of posting, yet keep asking the same question for days hoping someone will reply with a magical solution. Not going to happen. You need to get all of this sorted out today, or we will all be saddened by a post on Friday saying "my cham died".

I hope you can bring your little guy around.

soryy i am over sneeiitve and feel you are scolding me i was only here to learn but i lost hope when people are telling m im clearly not prepared it is a rude way..i only wanted advice but its like u call me stupid. I do have mental ill ness and always pets helped me. I grew up with these but i livd with my parent who had a nice cage now im living somewhere else i needed help.

I'm not calling you stupid but unprepared and unexperienced...
It was obvious from reading the description.

I've said what needs to change immediately and linked a care sheet so you can read up on the care, I hope you use it.

This also isn't your fault but that of the seller that sold the Jacksonii to you. He should have the responsibility to at least check if he's selling an animal that needs special care to someone that came prepared or otherwise prepare you best he can.
Clearly the life of the animal did not matter to the seller and now you tumbled into a hobby that's all but cheap.

I hope you will stay here and read up on how to take proper care of your animal and I'll hope you succeed in giving him a long and healthy life...
It's sad but this happens way to often.
