my first cham!

This is IZ he is a bb ambilobe panther chameleon. I received him in the mail the 14th . He is about 3.5 months old. He already has some pretty wild marking (can not tell in picture, iphone pic) He has already started eating and drinking, even though he still can not find the feeding cup, I have to put the crickets near him with tongs or he will never find them. He seems pretty healthy to me but it may just be me being over worried but I think eyes look like they are sunken in a little. If they are it hasn't been that much, I think im just over worrying since it is my first cham but other thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey! Cute little cham! In this picture looks like a little green Gollam But i cant tell anything about the eyes from this pics. seems healthy to mee at all!

its prob just me with the eyes, I have been reading to many sad stories lately so i've become paranoid. I will get pics of the set up later, but in the set up I the reptisun 5.0 for uvb, a 40 watt basking lamp, I hand mist so no automatic mister, lil dripper, one of my plants are a pathos, and I do not know the other, I just know a lot of people use it lol he loves to eat the leaves on it. It is strange that he was actually green in that picture, He is usually very dark and grey which could mean hes stressed?

Hey Kellon congrats on your little guy hes a cutie! I think the plant hes on is a Jade plant, his eyes seem fine to me so you dont have to be paranoid. if your chameleon is drinking everything is fine since sunken eyes are usually attributed to dehydration. If hes dark it could just mean that hes trying to absorb some more heat but it could also mean hes stressed. Im lucky that i know what my guys stressed colours are, hes right next to a window and one day i was sitting there watching him and a bird flew by and the shadow just happened to pass over him. Oh man did he freak out haha, he turned almost white with dark brown on him. It surprised the heck outta me, so whenever hes those colours or close to those colours i know hes a little stessed. Just keep him hydrated for now and keep feeding, these little guys eat alot haha. Keep us updated

Just wondering if you can tell us if his cage is totally congested with that plant?

Please give us a updated pic of his surroundings, how old is he? Try not to throw the crickets or food in and expect him to always go find it if it highly congested, remember he is little.

Do you handle him at all? Does he get some natural rays outside with you at least 4 5 times a week?

Yes his cage is completely congested with plants, I do not throw the crickets in there I usually hold them with tongs in front of him till he sees it, then I put it down on a leave in front of him, he usually snatches it right away. I just wish he would find the feeding cup so I could stop doing that. He is about 3.5 months old. It is getting to cold here to get him out in the sun witch really sucks. But thanks for all the advice guys I can use as much of it as I can, I want him to be as hardy as he can get

Congrats on your guy, I know you have been anxiously waiting! These little fellows will make you crazy with worry... LOL! I know mine do... I have had no issues to date but I too am "paranoid!" lol! Good luck!

That hits the nail on the head lol, Im just constantly worried something will go wrong, even though I am doing everything right (I believe)

Oh and no I have not handled him since I have got him, I want to make sure he is calm around me first, witch I still think he is terrified of me so handling is out of the question for a while.

Welcome to the gang. You might want to cut some of the branches out of the jade plant. He might be happier with more room to move around. jmo And you can't kill a jade even if you try.

will do, He loves his jade plant , I might just take that one out and put a smaller one in. But for now I will trim a few branches. I can not get over how fast he is growing either, I think he has at least grown an inch since I got him.
