my ambilobe female panther chameleon just laid her her eggs, this is her second time laying but her first time laying fertile eggs. she wouldn't eat for 2 weeks prior to her laying. i fead her liquid calcium thru her dripper as well as flukers liquid food, really watered down flukers liquid food. she seemed fine even though she wasn't eating, bulging eyes and meaty leggs. i couldnt get her into a laying bin as she would get violent any time i came close to her. was more worried about her not me. her cage was big enough so i put a 16x16 inch square bucket i made about 13 inches deep with an additional 3 inches of over lap on the bucket with play sand in her cage. i covered the bottom part of her cage with poster board for privacy but left the top half alone. yesterday she laid her eggs. she hasn't covered the hole yet. and today she ate one 2 inch superworm with calcium and reptivite dusted (gutloaded with carrots, butternut squash, mustard greens, orange and of course wheat bran) can't get her to eat anything else. i came home for lunch around noon and she seemed fine. but around 330 pm when i came home from work she was asleep on her branch. her eyes are NOT sunken in. but she looks sleepy like her eyes are squinty. also since she laid her eggs she about 1/3 smaller in size than before she became egg bound. she does seem to have a good grip on the branches. if i look at her to long she starts jerking her head but her colors don't change and she keeps her mouth closed. shes currently back to salmon pink. not as bright as when she was receptive but kind of a peachy overtone. the books all say that chameleon sleeping in the day is a bad sign. i would think that if she just laid her eggs she would naturally be more tired and a little weak to begin with. was wondering if its somewhat normal for a female to sleep during the later day, after shes laid eggs? haven't counted eggs yet as i have not removed the laying been, just incase she decided to cover the hole or stil had more eggs. will remove laying been tomorrow as well as put her outside to get some natural sunlight.
