Get rid of that compact florescent UVB immediately. They are known to cause eye problems. You need a florescent tube UVB preferably a repti-sun 5.0. What is the top made out of? UVB will not pass through glass or plexi. Ditch the substrate, nothing is best or a paper towel for humidity and ease of cleaning. A lot more coverage is needed to make your cham feel safe and relaxed. Real plants are the best for this: pothos, schefferlla tree, ficus, etc. You need to do a lot more research it seems. Ah.. I just posted on the other thread asking baout your enclosure.. WHy didnt you just use it to update and yes, I believe UVB was mentioned on there, probably almost instantly.

Chameleon use UVB to process calcium. Make sure you are supplementing correctly. The link I provided in the previous post has some really good supplement information. The heating light should be a normal incandescent light bulb 60w or 40w. Whichever gets the basking temp correct.

It's the tube florescent right? Don't listen to pet stores 98% of the time they have no clue about chameleons. They just try to get you out the door with as much merchandise as possible whether or not it you need or if it is harmful to your chameleon's health. Read the raisingkitty site throughly it will answer 99.99% of your questions.

OMG, i am tromatised...
I have the exact same as the third picture..
should i return the bulb? it cost me over 25$ just for the bulb..
could it do much of a dammage if i keep it a little wild?
I still hope my heating lamp is good...

U should be able to return it, esp if thats what they recommended, just stomp ur feet that their inexperience could have caused ur cham to lose its eyesight!! They should at least let u exchange it for the correct kind, just remember u will need a seperate type fixture to hold this type of light since it is not a screw in, and the pet store will rob u blind on one, its best to either A. order one online from homedepot, or big apple herp, or B. buy ur correct light and take it with u to the hardware store and tell them u need a fixture for it, explain what it is for and that it doesn't need to be fancy, remove any cover (plastic lens) if it comes with one, try for light weight. It won't hurt ur cham to turn the bad one off- having nothing for a day or two is better than having the bad one on a day or two longer, as for ur other bulb a .99 bulb 60-100 watts depending on enclosure size works great for basking, u don't need a fancy "basking bulb" although if u already have it it won't hurt. Do u have a digital therm with probe? If not I would pick one of those up too!!
