My DIY enclosure

My son and I made this for his Jackson's pair. It is 26" x 22" x 48".

I hate the pet proof screen we used so I'll be replacing part of the door with plexiglass for better visibility.

The bottom is screen with a plastic tub below used as a catch basin. The tub was $6 at Lowes in the masonry dept.

Interior is still a work in progress.

I would probably suggest now housing the jacksons together. The female can be easily stressed out from the male constantly chasing her trying to mate and it could result in death in the female. You want them no where in sight of each other.

Housing 2 chameleons is too risky. Chameleons get super stressed out and either one will dominate the other one. You can see this by one staying in a lower area of the cage or one eating all the food. Plus jacksons have gnarly looking horns that can easily hurt eachother.

Also with jackson chameleons, they require ALOT of humidity from what i know. So be sure you treat your wood with a good water sealant that won't be affected by heat. Wood can rot, get moldy, and fall apart so just a heads up.

Adding the acrylic door would be a plus, since jacksons need the humidity.

Be sure to read up on care sheets aswell. This can help your enclosure design.

Also jacksons give live birth and the mothers are known to eat the babies. So I would be worried that if you house them you might not know when she would be gravid and she could give birth without you knowing.

more plants, more light, re-pot the ficus in some hydroton or it's going to root rot. If you are going to keep a pair in that small of an area make sure it is heavily planted and there is more than one drip area. imo
