my chams free range

Ok so I've been constructing a free range for my nosy be cham for some time now. This is how it has turned out so far. I plan on getting a few more stand so I can raise up the plants a little bit more. What do you guys think, should I add anything or take anything out?

btw I used some pipe for his "high ways" and it seems to be working perfectly

It looks pretty cool!! Is his free range someplace for him to hang out on when he's not in his cage or is the free range going to be his permanent home?

The reason I'm asking is because I have a Jackson's that free ranges in my living room and no longer has a cage. I actually have a UVB and Spotlight for heat set up for him in his free range.

Anyhow, I was just curious but your setup looks good and your cham seems to enjoy it!! :):):):)

Thanks! Yes this will be his permanent free range. He also has his basking light in his free range, the last pic is him basking.

Very cool then!!! I think that free ranging adds another aspect to a chams personality. My guy has been free ranging for over a year now and he couldn't be happier or healthier. I absolutely love watching him move from place to place. He's become sooo laid back...nothing bothers him..not even my cat's. He's just another part of the family!

I hope you have as much fun with your new free range as Triton (my Jackson's cham) and I have!!!:):):)

Man that is AWESOME! One of the best free ranges i have seen. I would say maybe add a nice tall ficus or so in the middle and you are good. Is your veield from Jann going to have a free range?:D

Looks awesome

Thanks Stefan :) I will for sure be going to the nursery this weekend and get some pothos and a ficus for him. Where'd you hear I was getting a veiled from jann? I'm getting a female nosy be this weekend though :D

Oh i am sorry my mistake. I thought you did. Sorry

Cant wait to see the final thing:)

I want to free range!! Sooo badly! I have a spare bedroom that I'm daydreaming about doing this with but it will take more time and learning as I'm a new owner. Swyft is very friendly/bold so far and I want to encourage that by letting him explore more. He hangs around the front of his cage all the time watching me.

The first thought that popped in my mind of your setup was "pillows on the floor in case he falls!" As a new owner I don't know how agile they are on pipes.

How do you keep up with the misting/humidity?

(I'm in Colorado, not sure I can keep an entire room humid enough right now)

I mist each of his plants for about 2 minutes each. I have to install a dripper for him though, I'm gonna probably put a shower curtain under all the plants so it will catch the water.

Ah cool. I see you have more than one chameleon, if you make the free range area big enough can they be together?

I'm excited for ya!

Thanks guys :) I think that would be possible. I would probably have to have several different basking spots and uvb spots. I'm never gonna try it though.

New place and new lights

I decided to move neptunes free range out of my room and to a bunk room in the back. His old free range was to wide and this one is much more higher and less wider. Here are some pics, I know it looks really empty now, I'm gonna go to micheals and get a fake ficus and I'll be ordering some bio vines from lllreptile today.

Also, he can't get to the cord that is connected to the fluorescent fixture.

Are you sure that he can't get to the cord of your lamp?? It is a bit worrying.

I prefer the new setup, because it's less big, he has a great window in front and it looks sunnier, even if i suspect your old pictures to be taken in the evening and not during the day. I also prefer the new setup because your lamps are on the roof, and not on the wall. I have read a few times that lamps that aren't OVER the chameleon may cause eye issues, even if it's rare.

Of course, it misses high plants, but i'm sure he won't be out for a long time! ;)

If i had a suggestion for the future, instead of getting metal tubing for your chameleon, go to a sport shop and buy some climbing ropes. They are very useful, not too expensive, and it's perfect for the chameleon's claw. It is also less cold or hot than metal. And like tubing, you can buy the lenght you want. :)

Thanks for the suggestions :)! I'll go check the sport shop climbing ropes out. I'm confused though, what do you mean by "He won't be out for a long time"? Also the older setup looks less sunnier probably because he didn't have a daylight bulb in his free range until today :)
